Ok so when I first got my truck I had this issue but it went away and hardly ever did it again but I can pretty much duplicate it every time now. Here's what it's doing, I drive my truck to work no issues. I drive it home no issues. But if I drive it some where, let it sit for awhile and then restart it while its still warmed up it runs like shit. Won't take throttle and backfires through the intake. If I force it to run it acts like its not firing on all cylinders and won't get out of its own way. But to fix it all I have to do is cycle the key and it runs like a champ every time. Sometimes I don't even stop I just push in the clutch and restart it at speed lol. So Im question is what sensor am I resetting when I do that? Has to be something dumb if its that easy to fix every time. :dontknow:

Can't say I've had that happen. But it sounds like limp mode on the 6.1s, but that usually comes with a few lights on the dash.

I figured tps or iac. Those seem to be the most common. Wasnt sure if cycling the key would reset it that fast

I'm getting ready to buy an expensive scan tool from my wife's cousin. Those things tell you everything that's happening when your driving. I'm cool with helping you figure out problem.

It's actually sounding like a cam/crank sensor. Did you check codes in PCM? Any check engine lights?

Reread your truck issues, mine does the same thing from time to time. I always thought it was due to IAC sensor because it only does it when its real hot outside and engine temp is way up. I don't drive mine as much anymore, so its been a non issue.

I would agree with Scott's assessment as well though. Jay had some issues regarding cam and crank sensors last year.

yeah i had an issue where randomly mine would sit and almost like reverse abs and pulsate when i hit the gas and a quick cycle of the key would fix it turned out being the tps quick cheap sensor to replace came to find a huge crack/hole in the one i had.

Did you do the key dance to see if you have any stored codes?
