How hard is it to remove the tow hitch setup on the quad cab? Anyone do it? also how much weight do you lose? I am starting to think it looks better without it.

trust me as soon as you take it off, your gonna need it. Get the viper cover hitch from JMB. I just put one on mine.

50lbs if you take the tube between the frame rails out as well;) I'll always have one for my boat or a small trailer that I pull every now and then.

The bed has got to come off.

Your truck weighs 5600 lbs. 50 lbs. off is like taking an overnite bag off the Queen Mary...

The brackets that make up the ends of the hitch actually support the bumper. Stinker is working on some replacement brackets so we can run without the hitch or the bar that replaces the hitch. The support bar that is on one without the hitch weighs over 50 lbs. and is actually overkill for the rear.

yeah but not reaaly the place you want to be taking weight off...these trucks are already 60/40 no point making them anyworse

you can just take the hitch off w/o removing the bed you just cant take off the main support i think its just four bolts..

Had mine cut off when I did exhaust, no problems with bumper cover. Looks a lot better and any weight loss on this truck is good, it adds up eventually. Worth it only if you don't plan on towing anything.
