Dual purpose bikers???

I’m looking to buy a 400-650cc bike just to get around my little town. I’ve been leaning toward a dual purpose. Do we have any dirt/street riders on this forum that could offer some opinion here?:dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:
I just found a Suzuki DR-Z400s with 1200 miles. Asking $3400.00. :dontknow:

I’m trying to keep it in the $3K range. It’s just for short trips to work and maybe camping…

I have a Kawi KLR 650. Its fun for off road or gravel roads, but its heavy. Its not very fast. It only goes about 70-75 mph. Its only electric start which is a pain if the battery dies.

The Suzuki is a nice bike. What year is the bike and model, they made 3 DR-Z400 models E, S and SM? I have seen 2005 400S sell for around $2500.00.

That's suppose to be a good bike. I've read that it's just as powerful as the DR-650 and KLR-650 bikes since they are considered old tech. The DRZ-400 is the new stuff. Lots of aftermarket stuff available for it. It's a bike I may add to my stable as a trail bike someday. Kawasaki also has a 400 that I think is just about the same bike just a different color.

This is a 2004... I was thinking the price was a bit high even with 1200 miles...?

Yamaha WR's are pretty nice, basically a YZ with lights and a button start.

A buddy of mine just bought a new drz450 supermoto.Put a pipe on it and really likes it.Great gas mileage and alot of fun to ride.The older ones may not have the pep but with a little work they sure could.You can find alot of great deals in cycle trader.Also keep an eye out on Ebay.You should be able to fine something in your price range.I just got a new BMWk1200s.My cure for this gas mess!!Mine was a little OVER your budget!!
