What does the resonator actually do? I pondered the thought of deleting it when I had my exhaust done, but I wanted to take "parts" off progressively.

I'm about to bite the bullet and do catless mids and I figure while I'm under there I will cut that off too. Whats gonna be the actual difference in having it and not having it? Soundwise and performancewise. . .

As always, thanks in advance!

A Resonator dampens the sound that the 05/06's have to pass federal noise pollution standards (due to 4.56:1 gears and stricker laws) . When I did a 'straight through' setup on mine, I took mine off, but later put it back on. It gave it a deeper / slightly quieter sound.

Straight pipe the truck and leave the res is my 2 cents...

From what I understand ther is no performance hit, the resonators just quiet the exhaust tone. Its straight through pipe, but the interior absorbs the exhaust noise. Please correct me if I am wrong here.

It just quiets the sound and deepens the tone. Most don't want them and if you do a cat-back,they should be on the tail-pipe section that comes off.

I am looking to buy some for my truck to test the sound.

I removed the resonator,as well as the second set of cats, and all I got was a kool cackle when you back out of it !!!I like the sound !!!

When you removed second set of cats do we need an 02 simulator or anything?

Thanks Rob

I hate that cackle.Wanna sell your resonators to me ? Send me a PM.
:p :p :p I live for backrapping!!!:p :p :p It's just about the only reason I slow down. I down-shift like crazy just to set it off. I almost always drive with the slider open so it echos in the cab.

You should hear my bike, it has glasspacks and a lean idle... When I down-shift that one you would think it were Chinese New Year all over again.:p :p :p :p

You couldn't pay me to drive a car that doesn't bark, howl, and pop.:D
