I'm preparing to put my truck on Ebay and was curious about "the fine print". Stuff regarding down payment, how payment is to be made, stuff like that.

Is there anything that is "standard" through Ebay or do you create your own "standards" as far as how you want the funds, etc.

This is my first time advertising something on Ebay and I'd hate to miss some small detail and get the shaft. I've had enough shafting from dealers for the past 2 months to last my entire lifetime.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can setup, state, whatever funding source you want. I have never sold anything that big, but I would probably want a certified check, non-refundable deposit, or something similar. Maybe even take Paypal for a deposit?

It helps on your part to have good (close to 100%) feedback and multiple transactions.

Put the standard stuff down. "Serious bidders only", "email me with more questions", "I can take more pictures", etc. Try to be as open as you can and as much info as you can give.

Seller reserves the right to end the auction at any time as the truck is for sale locally. That way if someone wants to purchase it you can sell it to your neighbor,VTCOA member etc. Put your reserve high enough to keep you from saying ( I should have ask more!)

Make sure you reserve to right close early. People will email you for cash price. I sold my last 2 cars on ebay. Set a reserve at you min acceptable price and start the bids at $1. Make sure you need need bank funds and payment in full before you release the vehicle. Make like a 200 dollar refundable deposit. Refundable ONLY in the vehicle is not as described. Anything else might scare people off. Make sure to use a Flashy title. Pay for the picture in the listing. And use LOTS of pictures. The more the better.

I figure that covers it...yup.

OH - one more thing.

GOOD LUCK!

I have had GREAT success selling on Autotrader.com. One price until it sells, where as Ebay you have to keep paying listing fees.

I've got lots o pics and a friend will host them on his server. I'll have small pics that can be enlarged to the full version if desired. Right now I'm just so fed up with this whole ordeal. I'll check into Autotrader.

The one thing I guess I have going for me is there are no other SRT Rams with superchargers listed in ebay or autotrader from what I've seen.

Ebay's basic premise is that the winning bidder owes you money, and you owe him/her stuff. Both parties are on contract to honor that transaction. If you're going to handle any kind of deposit, down payment, or funding; you are going to have to detail it out in your item description.:deal:

My suggestion. Take Paypal or certified check only. Only take a deposit of you're willing to accept the risk that it's the only money you'll ever see in the deal. And yes, "Serious Bidders Only"!:motz:

There are many forms of credit out there. Unless you're representing a business, let your buyer work that detail out. If they can't afford it, they shouldn't be bidding for it.:hmmmm2:

I would never try to complete this large of a transaction without a 3rd party involved. Many companies (title and otherwise) will handle the transfer of funds, titles etc. Trust me on this....a person can easily screw you. One in particular is drawing funds from a non USA bank. You'll deposit the Cert check and your bank will tell you 2 days later the check cleared. A week later you'll get a call that the funds were no good and bank wants the money back. Many of our/your local banks have same name bank outside of US so you'll think its USA based but its not. Been there done that....

Let the 3rd party Title company take responsibility for this, not you! Also, using a 3rd party is a relief for the buyer too. Most vehicles are owned by a lending institute and not the seller/owner. Buyer wants to ensure that the loan is paid off and proper title transfer occurs.
