ECM for B&G Flash.

Well,I guess I'll be the 1 in the crowd to say I paid $800.00 for the BG Flash PCM.I listened to all the Happy campers that love theirs.WHY am I the only one that wasn't satisfied ?Took me from 407HP Stock,to 412 HP Flash.TQ was around 414 stock,took me to 464 Flash.Torque numbers were nice,that's it !Talked with Dave (I believe that was his name)and was told my numbers were where they should be.Needless to say I have an $800.00 PCM sitting on my shelves collecting dust !!Someone mentioned that maybe I should take it up to ROE,and have them install the VEC2 in conjunction with the Flash,and then I should be happy.Guess I'll give that a try first.:dontknow:

Hey guys I think you should talk to dave before you assume that his flash 2 is subpar out there,and DC'S IS BETTER?

That is an excellent statement. I think it should be up the person to decide which flash they should get. I am sure that each has their high and low points, and each may work better or worse under different circumstances.

Hopefully what can be gained here is if we work with the vendors they will work with us..
 
ECM-B&G flash

Dennis why do you have the flash that has made you more power sitting on the shelf collecting dust, I think I would have that on my truck maybe putting headers,Tstst get that thing to run at a cooler temp better flow who knows where you might be -just mty 2 cents Man.

need some advice

hey , just got a 05 srt10 qc 8 days ago and im addicted.have kn air intake on the way. tbs wouldnt fit qc [found out hard way], magnaflo put on 3 days ago, was wondering where to get best price on flash vec 2 w computer. was quoted about $800 from x metal but will take 5 days to get it here, damn it,bringing to track next sun. do you know if i can get better price ? if so where. open to suggestions on bolt ons that wont hurt my wallet to badly or void warrenty.thanks dan

I paid $968.00 for my spare ECM, flash, and stat from DC Performance. I was tol that the stat is required for the stage 2 flash.

Here is what I have done: EBC "Green Stuff Brakes" - $180.00 for front and rear from X-metal, HID's upgraded driving lights/headlights $800.00, Volant CAI and MagnaFlow $768.00.
 
Wow!!! This is what I call fast service...

Ordered on Wednesday from DC, they shipped it overnight to B&G for programming.. they did it same day.... I got it tonight UPS Next Day.

So.. in morning.. I know what I am doing!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Thats what makes me think that when you order, they just call BG and they send it to us.

I thought the same thing.. but I pulled off the shipping labels, and found the shipping ticket from DC to B&G, with the correct dates on it, and my last name with an order number attached to it.. and then on top of that one was the B&G to me shipping label.

I have talked to Dave at B & G several times about this. Yes B & G does the flash for DC, BUT, it is a special flash done to DC's request. I have a prototype stage II flash from Dave at B & G, but I am going soon to have him install a different flash. One that is a little more radicle. The flash B & G installes in Michigan trucks takes into accout we have 93 and 94 octain gas. If you can't get that gas you don't want to run the same flash because it could hurt your engine.

Just finished the install.

The stat change was a pain in arse... remove your air intake system - it made for much easier job (sorta..).

Drain your radiator down using the drain plug with hose attached to it.. I drained about 2 gallons or so... (located lower right hand side of radiator if viewing from front), just connect drain hose, and turn knob about 1 turn.. it will stop.. dont force it! Remember to close close the drain cock.

Remove the stock upper radiator hose, 2 pairs of vice grips needed to remove those damn clamps they use...

I used a T-30 Torks head with extension to remove the bolts on the stat, except for the upper right right one (one with battery ground), that was I think a 11mm deep well...?? cant remember.

The lower left bolt was a pain.. but with Torks and extension and some light, it was not horrible as I expected.

Remove stat cover, be careful not to dump it, otherwise coolant will be all over your engine compartment, dump into bucket you drain radiator into, careful not to lose the housing o-ring, remove stock stat, rinse housing and install the 170 unit, bold back on.

I found it easier to reinstall the left bold first while putting the housing back on..

Just snug down the rest of the bolts, so as to not flex the housing, think of it as a wheel... use a star pattern!

Put upper radiator hose back on housing, and fill with water about about 75%, then re-attach to radiator.. using same method as before to remove it. Those clamps are a pain in the ass.

Did you remember to close the drain cock...!!

Re-fill your radiator with removed coolant... about 50% will fit back in radiator, dump rest in overflow tank.

Dont forget to put radiator cap on... I did this.. and had coolant all over floor... :withstupid: after I started it..

Let run for about 15-20 minutes to come up to operating temps, check fluid levels, etc..

I babyfooted it to gas station, because I had 89 oct in tank.. and filled it up.. with 91, noticed a little bit of detonation.. but it seems to be getting less and less... think that ECM is now learning the motor. But will keep and eye on it.

Thats all...

I did notice a SOTP performance gain... faster revving, chirps tires in 1, 2nd, and Drive. Firmer shifting, etc..

Seems to operate maybe about 5 degrees cooler.

There are 3 connectors, with small clips on them pull them out with your finger, and sqeeze the bottom side and pull the plugs out. I labled mine before I removed them.. Top, Mid, Bot. Just in case.

Use a 8mm socket to remove computer, reinstall new ECM, and put bolts back in.

To install ECM, use a 8mm socket to remove ECM.

When I bought my stage II flash I first called DC and they told me it would be 2 weeks before they would be ready for shipment. I waited 3 weeks and e-mailed them and they told me again 2 weeks. 4 weeks later no call. I called B&G and told them what I wanted and it arrived in 2 days. That has been 7 months now and DC still hassn't called me. B&G have also been great about answering questions. I will never buy from DC now. To each his own. I will deal with B&G from now on. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.
