We have a Prius Tim, spouse says it meliorates our carbon foot print. It rides better, has more conveniences, is great in traffic, will run all day at 90 on the cruise control, never has problems, is great in the snow, but....well you know.

The original question was not a question that pertained to getting better mileage---it was a joint question about getting more power/performance out of the truck while improving the economy----couldn't you have fun with a truck that had a v10 and 6000lbs getting 20 mpg or better and producing 500 or more hp---i could----the question is --how do you get there?

A gear vendors, in my opinion would be a waste of money, as you would be lugging the engine at normal speed. You would be somewhere around .50 overdrive. The mods which will help mileage are headers, exhaust and drop in K&N filter. My '04 RC has Stage II,headers,JMB catless mids,Magnaflow,K&N cold air, and 4.56 gears and I get 18.2 highway and 11 around town.

I have a gear vendors I am going to install in my Coronet. But it has 4.10's, and a 1 to 1 final gear (torqueflite) which will make it a .78 overdrive. One of my customers sold it to me because it was in an F-450 powerstroke with an auto overdrive and was lugging the engine too much at highway speed.
