I decided to apply rain-x after mixed feelings about it. Applied as the directions described to all windows. Started to sprinkle rain lightly so I hurried to get it all off even though directions said light water can be applied to wipe glaze off. All windows wiped off smoothly except of course the damn windshield which now fogs up at night and blurrs when it rains, instead of rolling off. I tried re-wiping dry and wet but still won't come off.
I was thinking of reapplying to the windshield and wiping off again but didn't want to make it worse, my other thought was to use goo remover or gas then re-apply again. Any suggestions or anyone else go through thus with rain-x???
Thanks in advance

bud i did same thing on my old 3/4 ton and had same prob ,,,i had to take some rubbing alcohol to get that crap off ,,,then i threw the rest out ;)

I have used it for years and has worked well for me :dontknow:

Usually if I get streaking, I hit it with a damp rag, then wipe off with a dry towel.
I apply it and then wait for it to haze, then wipe off.
I have also started to use the window cleaner with rain-x in it. Also seems to work well, but don't have the streaking issue.
Make sure that the towels are clean. If your wash towels have to much soap or you use a softener, this might be what you are seeing.

wash is with dishwashing soap..... and next time just wax the winshield! lol works just like rain X but i've done rain X and never had a problem

Only you brother.:) Actually, let me shut up. That's something that would happen to me.:D

It's a clean towel. I tried wet and dry but nothing helps. I don't understand why it worked on every but the damn windshield where I need it most :dontknow:

Yea it would happen to you but somehow it would set another code off for you.

Wash with a dishwashing soap :dontknow: It gets rid of wax, maybe it will clean it off :dontknow:

I Dun said that wun durn time...sheesh:D

anyone know if i can use dishwashing liquid to remove rainx :D

I have used it for years without a problem. I put it on and take it off like paste wax. Then use a damp cloth to take care of any streaks..

You may check out having your Windshield treated with Crystal Fusion. It is a permanent (3 year) Rain-X style treatment. Have it on the Aspen and it works just as good if not better than the Rain-X on the Truck and 300.

Where do you do that at and how much does it run to do the treatment??
Nevermind....didn't see the link

Rain-x is awesome. Have never had any problems and have used for about 15yrs. Maybe you got a bad batch or somebody messed it up somehow, was it a brand new bottle?

Wife's company makes it here in northern Illinois.

It is a silicon coating, many including me use it instead of windshield wipers.

Dawn is a high alkaloid cleaner that will remove it. A clay bar works well also.

Apply it correctly and it works wonders.

I also have a citrus product called Bioact 105 that will remove it, if you need it.

After applying it, you actually need to apply some "elbow grease" and buff it out. If it is a little hazy, reapply a SMALL amount of Rain-X to the affected area and buff it some more. This stuff ain't like windex...you actually have to polish pretty good. Don't allow it to dry too long and make sure you are applying it in the shade. That usually helps...

Let me know if this works for you, it did for me!:D

LET IT DRY thats the key, then wipe it off.

I love Rain-X I've been through blizzards and huge thunderstorms WITHOUT WINDSHIELD WIPERS that stuff is the only thing that got me home safe. Didn't have wipers for 2 years!

Trust me I put a lot of effort more than elbo grease to try and remove it....but as soon as I do it acts like nothing happened and the streaks reappeared.
I'm going to reapply just how it is now and if it doesn't help I'll have to force it off with something very volatile!

Seems like I had a little problem with streaking the 1st time I used it years ago. I use it on all my cars. Apply and let it dry. Wipe it with a damp cloth. Then use a dry cloth to wipe it down. Repeat. If there is any extra moisture it is difficult to get the streaks off. Was it very humid the day you tried it? You cannot have sunlight directly on it during application.
