Is there a return spring that attaches to the release on the e-brake?

I can't see one, but my pedal is firmly planted on the firewall...any one have a picture of where it attaches?

Roy,

Sounds like the cable broke?

Not sure where the spring is located but if you follow the cable under the truck you will probably find the problem, unless it snapped inside the housing.

Have you tried pulling the release handle and lifting the peddle by hand? If it comes up to it's normal position it means the cable has snapped or the spring has broken, sorry don't know where the spring is??

It may be at the rear brakes?? Or somewhere inbetween!!

Good Luck

I concur with the cable breakage theory.

Roy- get one of those border guard mirrors and look under the truck for a thin (about 1/4") steel cable hanging down somewhere between the front wheel and the back wheel.
It'll be on the drivers side of the truck.

Seems to me if the cable broke it would move some...but it is solid against the fire wall.

Did you push the e-brake pedal a little further than normal? That might cause extra tension on the line and make it harder for the release to operate.

It could also snap the cable.

Just too strong I guess! Yaaah, I pushed it a bit harder...I'll check the cable...

It is an easy fix Roy, all ya need is a Left Hand Adjustable Metric Cresent Wrench :D :D :p ;)

I would venture to guess you have a need for a new parking brake assy., as the pedal is stuck. You may have a defective release lever. You can try to release some of the slack in the e-brake cable by loosening the parking brake adjustment nut, assuming your rear wheels are stuck in place.

My truck has a clutch?

I thought the dimmer switch was down there...:D

Oh shit, that was another of those references that lost about 90% of the members here...;) ;) ;)
