Hey, i've been thinking about getting my engine bay detailed... Has anyone
else tried this? I don't want to screw my truck up but it doesn't sit well that
my engine bay is so dirty (think dirt road) and doesn't look good when i
pop the hood:dontknow: any ideas... Also, i tried to do it myself and it's not
worth the effort to clean every single tube, nook and cranny...

Bill (Poppopmadman) has a great looking engine bay. He told me that there is a STP product called Touchless Tire Shine (I think). You can spray that all over the engine bay (not on belts), let it sit awhile then rinse (avoid electrical connections). Then apply again for a nice shine.

Maybe he'll chime in to correct or confirm what I've said.

Simple green, lightly hose off and dry with a leaf blower. Then use detailer and wipe off the large surfaces and hoses.

I used Simple Green or 409 citrus degreaser and spray it off with my pressure washer (at and adequate distance as to not damage components). Since I spray it off almost every time I wash my truck, the engine never really gets that dirty. Most of the time I only need to hit it with water. I also put dielectric grease on all the electrical connections. I usually use Finish 2000 to make everything shine. I like the idea of using Ice on stuff. I'll have to try that.

I finished cleaning mine. Just remove the engine, step inside and clean.
