Debating whether or not i want to do an engine build. How much time and price am i looking at to do a build to handle a sc. forged pistons n rods n whatnot.

and if i do the work myself?

that is pricing for just the build of the engine, most of the time a R and R engine install is usually only a couple grand, but machining and parts eat up most of the building of an engine , not the labor.

without billet mains, maybe 8k range

with billet mains around the 10k mark

head work can run from $1500 -$4000

labor of install and removal figure 2k

now take most figures and double the time and amount and you will be close to an actuall finished product

in parts it cost me about 3500. But I only had 16k on when the crank was replaced so no machine work. How many miles are you at? depending on mileage the only pain will be micing the crank for bearings if you did it the way i did.

Your estimates and times to completion will always be low. Be prepared to pay more and take more time.

completely worth it my friend. After that you can throw whatever you like at the motor and not worry one bit the motor is gonna blow..

I had a full forged build done,all the good parts,mains,coated bearings,p&p,cam,valves everything, engine built for 20PSI boost and 250 shot of NOS,$14K and a real long wait!!!
