ok so iv tried the search buttom..and couldnt really find any good answers...so here are my questions....how much do you bore a viper motor cylinder out if your boring the motor out...im going to go ahead an build this motor to the best i can and since im having to buy new pistons im going to have it bored out....how much is the stock bore? and what size piston is stock?...and what are the pros and cons of boring the motor out..i know excess heat but its an alum. block so it shouldnt be to bad..how much bang for the buck are we talking? is there anyone here who has had there motor bored whats the specs piston size.cylinder wall size ect......sorry if this is a re post but the motor is coming out of the truck..and im starting to get my plan together...so i can get this thing rolling

My understanding is .010 is the max you should go..mine is bored to that spec....stock bore is 4.03 if i remember correctly......Stinker and some others here can help you..

could you tell a diffrence in power..does it really make that big of a diffrence or did do it just cause?

The bore increase only added like 7 cubic inches....no power increase but I did ported heads at the same time....big boost in power...already had the Roe on....the bore job was just part of the lower end build...not done for power increase..

unless you go way over .40 or higher, but then u need to sleeve the block, but unless your going to add more fuel and air, your not going to see a big increase, the port and polish helps the motor breath, so its worth it to do it all at once, since the motrs gunna be stripped anyways

i know people that have gone 1.6 over with no major problems, its all power by how much you want to invest

hmmmm....so there is really no incres in power?...hmmm so is it really worth doing?

Can you bore ,stroke and mill the heads to gain cubic inches and compression how much can you go on each?

MIC THE BORE IT IF NEEDS A CLEAN UP, CLEAN IT UP.

IF NOT FORGE THE SHORT BLOCK AND GET THE NEW MAINS.

PP THE HEADS AND GASKET MATCH THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST

all it boring the block does is increase the cubic volume of the cylinder, thats why no power increase, stroking it, however allows the piston to travel farther and pull in more air, thus more power.......so if u plan on adding a blower or turbo, then boining out would be a huge advavntage

these engines are sleeved, so .10 is right, aobut all you can go safely from my understandings.
you can stroke it to a 522.

but not too much gains in hp more in trq on these v 10's

your best bet, and the most for ya dollar is to have the bore checked to see if the walls are ok, that will be the big determining factor,

then if they can be cleaned up , go with pistons, good rods(dont cheap out)
oliver, or crower.
then billet mains. have the heads ported and polished, or buy stykers.

then a decent cam:D

so are the k1's not pretty good rods?
most def are, pm devildawg about them, ;)
they mimic the oliver rods, actually the guy that designed the olivers, now owns and designs the k1 rods, i think they are one of the best values out there right now, they are also good for 1200hp
