Not going to say the name of the shop, but below is the actual quote they

sent me for one of their engines. Must be one heck of a nice shipping crate!
:ahhhhh: :ahhhhh: :ahhhhh: :ahhhhh: :ahhhhh: :ahhhhh: :ahhhhh: :ahhhhh:

Every day driver application. $30,200.00. Dyno break-in and shipping crate included.

You did say a Viper motor right? I'd have called them back saying they clearly switched my quote with a guy that owns a Ferrari F40.

I've gotten some quotes recently this past week that would make most of you puke......:argh: :argh: :argh:

Are they stupid.... I know a few years ago I was looking at a crated Viper motor for my sand car (without tranny), but included PCM, and harness for something like $13-14k, shipped.

Somebody is making a bunch of cash on that deal...

You might want to check with Dragon to see what he can get a motor for.

Obviously this is not a quote for a stock engine. Anyone could get a factory crate engine for far less.

If this is for a well built, nicely equipped N/A engine with heavily worked (or Striker) heads, and no core charge, it's not a great price but it's not highway robbery for a full-on build. I would expect the best of everything inside that engine though, custom tuned, and a minimum of 650rwhp. If I'd had to source another engine and then added the cost of my build, 30k would be in the ballpark.

But honestly, the only thing that was left over from my original engine was the block and accessories, so all I would have needed was a good block.:D

For what ever it's worth guy's, I am now pursuing a source of

1st class all forged/billet short/long blocks and the ball park price is less than

7k. if we do a, here it is "GROUP BUY."

I will post as more info is provided to me.

I don't mind paying a fair price for an item but I do not like being taken

advantage of or see others screwed.

You find it and I'm in!

A new bulletproof crate engine built with Diamond pistons, tool steel pins, Billet rods, Stage-3 ported/matched heads, Cam, Roller rockers and lifters, Clevite bearings, billet main caps, API head studs, and a ATI harmonic damper, will cost over 30k, but it will withstand all kind of forced induction upwards to 1000rwhp, if that is what you are looking for.
That is not a crazy price.
