Threw this code last night. Has to do with the #1 injector. Truck bogged for 1 sec last night and it threw the code. Today took it to work so I could drop it off @ dealer to get looked at. Vipe tech on vacay until next monday. He asked me if the check engine light was solid or flashing. It was solid. he said I was fine until next week.

Truck is running fine now. I thought maybe I got some bad gas last week so I got a bottle of injector cleaner and topped off with some gas from Hess. As soon as the injector cleaner ran through it seems the engine light went off and has been perfect ever since.

Could it have just been bad gas? I drove it all day yesterday without any issues but just as I pulled into garage the code went so I am confused.

Anything serious???

Stuck injector maybe?? The reason he asked you if it was flashing is because if the MIL is flashing it means you have a detectable cylinder missfire and can cause damage to you cats if its just on solid it has a stored code, or a non current dtc. If it was going to flash it would propably do it under acceleration....moderate to heavy.

Who knows... Maybe stuck... Whats strange is that it cleared itself the second time after I put the cleaner in... Can the PCM restore itself? :dontknow:

To reboot the pcm, disconnect the negative terminal for about 10 minutes...then reconnect it. (10 mm wrench)

No but the light will go out if no missfires are detected on the key cycle. So it propably did not missfire at all or enough to throw a MIL.

I know that Roy... I was wondering if the PCM can update itself once a problem is resolved. Mine turned off by itself after I ran the injector cleaner

I understand certain OBDII codes can be cleared if the problem corrects itself. The PCM will look for a certain number of problem free operating cycles. If the problem does not reappear after a predetermined number of cycles, then the light will go off. I'd have to scour the service manual to see which codes/problems will clear themselves. And yes a flashing MIL is not good -- serious timing/emmissions issues need to be looked at, quickly.

Mine was never flashing... But I understand... Mine went on until it was cleared then came on again... Each time steady, not blinking....

Then after the second time, I put in the injector cleaner and a minute later the light went off and has been off all day.

Let hope that its resolved... Either way its going in for a check up next week.:D

Do not dissconnect the batt. if your bringing it to the dealer, if you do they wont be able to get the code. The injector probly stuck for a second or two, once the condition is gone it pcm will remember the code for a certain number of cycles, and if the condition that set the code doesnt happin again the light will turn off, but the code will still be in the pcm. After about 20 starts of the truck and if the conditions that set the code do not happen again, then pcm will completely erase the code.

If your are under warranty and bring it to them with that code they will put in a new injector w/o it have to stick in front of them.

If the code does not reappear he does not need to go to the dealer...if it reappears then he knows that there is a persistent problem. If the injector had a small piece of debris in it, it could have cleared itself...if not the code will reappear.

The pcm will continually monitor parameters. If it detects a problem it will continue to throw a code...if the problem does not exist anymore, the code will not reappear.

Him haveing the code wont work at MOST dealers
there is some truth to this...... dealers will want to see the code themselves before they effect repairs....... of course, if it happens again - so will the code. :)

What prof is saying is clear the code. If it does not come back then no trip to the dealer needed. If it does come back then take it to the dealer with the new stored code.

Thank you for the feedback guys. It seems as if I resolved the issue with the injector cleaner it seems but who knows. I will keep the appt with the dealer either way for just a standard service. If the code comes back.

Exactly.

If you're still under warranty, (or not), and/or you still want piece of mind, take it in and have the dealer check it out. If under warranty and you're going in for normal service anyway, it shouldn't hurt to have them check the PCM. ;) Who knows maybe the good 'ol Dodge/SRT boys have a secret PCM update available to help performance...:dontknow: :D

if one has an inactive/logged code. you can do all the trouble shootin you want. it will check good.
code has to be active or easly triggered to have the prob.
rule of thumb i was taught & go by is, code must be logged more than 3 times &/or can get it active in 60 mins. or less.
so i vote to drive her:rock: :burnout:  :burnout:

I drove her all day and night... No new code.... Running great actually... Maybe just a quick clog from bad fuel. Only thing I can think of.

Oil and temp pressures all normal. Standard gas mileage. Normal throttle response.

A fluke maybe??? I am taking her in for normal maint next monday so they will check it then. It is comforting to know that the PCM is that sensitive. It does make you concerned when you see the light go on, but could save you thousands in the long run.
