In CA and some other areas where there is emission testing it is illegal to remove the cats. Ca does not allow the cats on our trucks to be replaced with an aftermarket hiflow model.
Some of the hiflows are legal outside of CA.

Welcome to CA and the choaking reality of tree huggers writing the rules.

CA has a law on the books where it is a $1000.00 fine per cat that is removed.

It's illegal to totally remove the CATS in any state. This is a federal, not state requirement.

Silverback is right and in addition to what he said it is also illegal to remove any functioning cat period, even if it is to install a high flow. Technically you would have to wait for one to fail to even replace it with anything.

What I did if this helps was have a high flow system put in just behind the front cats deleting the mids and using high flow muffs!:D

Well technically speaking, I felt my cats were failing.....................:D LOL

Mine became tarnished, and therefore were ugly and unacceptable. My truck threw a code...PDUN2R (Pretty damn ugly need to replace). It's a legitimate reason in my book.:D

My cats were damaged beyond repair when I ran over a tree hugger...

Works for me...or "Well sir, I put a supercharger on and the expert said that the supercharger would kill the cats so rather than be running around with dead cats under my car, I just put on new ones...abeit high flow ones..."

I like it, I think it would hold up in court.

These trucks have a documented history of plugging the CATS. So I would think that you could get by with replacing the original CATS with aftermarket CATS, as long as your state allows the replacement of the OEM CATS with highflow CATs. How can they prove that the original CATS were not plugged?:dontknow:
