Why does my 05 QC have 2 mufflers and can I remove the smaller one on
the end.

it has 2 mufflers ---i better check mine----looks like mine has 6 ---oh wait 4 catalitic converters and dual exhaust ---2 mufflers ----why do they have 4 cats --isn't that as bit much

1 is a resonator.... the whole system has to go!! I'd suggest a Magnaflow catback and some mids from X-Metal or JMB!!

04's had 4 cats and 1 muffler
05-06's have 4 cats, muffler, and rear resonator.

take off the muffler, straight pipe it, and keep the resonator so its not too loud...if you get pulled over, you have a "muffler"

hahaha i actually am going with B&B long tubes and their catless mids.. gonna
have to visit my boy in winchester to get the whole Magnaflow+mids issue
straightened out though :dontknow:

Somewhere on this or another forum I read the QCs have the additional resonator because when they went with a 456 gear in the QCs to offset the additional weight with the 4 speed auto versus the 6 speed standard in the RC, the result was a significantly higher noise level from higher rpms at highway speed.

Yep, you can have the resonator cut out. The stock oem muffler is a straigh-thru design similar to the magnaflow but with more sound dampening (larger outer chamber).

My advice if you're considering this route would be to replace the stock muffler and resonator with a Magnaflow cat-back.

By the way, I still have my stock exhaust that's free to anyone that will pick it up/no shipping.
