Has anybody with a stock exhaust (ie stock muffler & resonator). Cut out the resonator? I'm eventually gonna put a real exhaust in but for the meanwhile just want it to really growl. Not looking for any performance out of it just wondering if it made a difference in sound and how much to see it it's worth the effort lol
also has anybody thrown cherry bomb glasspacks on? If so can you post a sound clip I love the glasspacks sound

I removed the resonator and replaced the stock muffler with a Flowmaster 50 series dual. Sounds pretty good.

I did this while trying to find the right sound. I left the factory muffler and deleted cats first a pair at a time, noting the differences. Then, I removed the resonator and it sounded great. I've since done the Dual 3" Viper style side exhaust and it's even meaner.:burnout:

I first swapped between running only a resonator, and only a muffler. The exhaust sounded best with only the resonators. So if i were you i would remove the mufflers and keep the resonators.

Resonators reduced the popping crackle and backfires and removed alot of the annoying rasps as with the muffler only setup.

I ran a cherry bomb, a dynomax, a borla, and a magnaflow.

The best sound came from Flowmaster outlaw bullets with a resonator of your choice. Magnaflow resonators worked too much and made it quiet. I used a twister pro flow muffler, much like the moroso spirals for resonators and it was perfect.

I have a few videos on here of my exhaust as listed in my sig.

I agree. If i had the money to run them through the quarter panels, and fill the hole in the rear bumper i would have. I hate the look of it hanging below our body kit.

i was gonna get a roll pan then run quad tips down the middle.

DON'T REMOVE THE RESONATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Delete the muffler! The Ressy doesn't do anything on these.... Its a 12" long muffler, the muffler is a 3' long job. Much more sound by deleting the muffler!

IMO ;) - add a x-pipe and b-happy :)

If you want a broken magnaflow, i got a messed up job for sale ;)

viperpwer, come out on this saturday to the track so i can give you a run down on what you need. i will save you alot of time and give you honest truth

nah dont mean it like that. i just think hes overwhelmed with responces that he dont even know what to get. Best would be a person to person talk and demonstartion...

i am comin out lol i dont know what exhaust i want either cuz all i've heard were vids of exhaust... not a good jumping off point, i've never heard any live other than my stock one... makes the decision a little difficult... i always liked borla tho but.. $$$$ lol

If you just delete the resonator, you will be very unhappy with the buzz and will want to change it immediately.

Save a little, then delete the cats, choose a system and go with it (Borla is fine)...don't waste effort and expense on trying to improve the system without changing the entire system...IMO.

oh i wouldnt do this if it was gonna cost me money, i have all the tools to cut it out myself.. i was gonna run straight pipes since you're all telling me to cut out the muffler. this was gonna be strictly temporary however. still debating it though.. its very tempting to puy a magnaflow muffler and just have my exhaust guy throw it on ( hed charge me $100 for piping and labor) + $85 for the muffler, but i dont want to have to deal with magnablow problems in the future :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

I have heard of people with MagnaFlow issues...mine has been on for about four years...no problems...

I did try straight pipes last spring...it was terrible...just too loud...but I am an old fart, it might be fine for someone looking to make a racket!

You will note that even Aero did not like the sound!
