Failed Emissions Today

can one of the programs in the SCT programmer be for "emissions test"?????

Emmissions.. Is that one of the reasons why we are having such strange weather? Ice caps retreating? Storms in CA?....:dontknow:

No, there are no codes. The test basically said the PCM was Not Ready to even offer codes. I believe this is what happens when you have a power interruption to the PCM - keeps people from clearing their codes right before they go for the test.

That is exactly right. All you need to do is put a couple hundred miles back on the truck and you will be fine. It happened to me as well.

I pulled the Number 51 circuit breaker (the black one) in the under-hood fuse panel. This turns off under the hood light.

1. Why are you pulling the fuse?
2. If you don't want the light under the hood on then just unplug it.

Silly emissions crap.. here in Ohio, it's necessary is almost every county EXCEPT for a few including Franklin.. home of Columbus and also the home of the idiots making the laws. I guess they don't want to bother with it since the air in the state capital is so clean. WTF?!

In NW Ohio we do not require any testing.

1. It's not really a fuse. It's a circuit breaker that can be reset. Just pull up to kill the light, then push down to reset. I've been doing this for two years with no problems, but this is the first year emissions are required.

2. It's easier pulling the CB (circiut breaker).:D

Suggest you just lean to operate the plug...look closely at it...move the red cover to the right, depress the pin and pull apart...if you examine it closely you will learn to do it with one hand and no effort...

hey sleeper, i see you also own a 30th t/a...we also owned one in '99. it was #488, t-top, 6 speed, factory 6 disc changer. only had it 3-4 months and it almost cost my marriage. fortunately i gave up the car instead of the misses...i loved that car...

you didn't clean the K&N filter recently by any chance? The airfilter oil can cause higher emmisions too, I had the same problem recently....
I'm just driving it arround full throttle to get rid of the excess of oil :D

thats an interesting note...

No shit, 100 dollar for a re-test not to mention the fuel
for driving arround :(
If only I knew I would have cleaned it after tech inspection:nurse:

Passed emissions today. After about 110 miles of driving, all the PCM monitors showed READY. I believe I must have disconnected the battery when I installed the Gen X shifter to keep the interior lights off, just didn't remember.:dontknow: When I got back from passing, I pulled the No.51 circuit breaker again to see if this was the cause of setting the monitors to NOT READY. It had no effect so it had to be a battery disconnect. I guess the moral of this story is don't mess with the battery if you're about to get an OBD II type emissions check. Thanks to all who responded.

Cool, I had a bad ass pigeon that won a 500 miles race, and his band number was #488.:D Why did your wife make you sell the car?:dontknow: I'll sell you my 30th if you want it. It only has 110 actual miles on it. Its like brand new still. Its a coupe with auto, TC, and rear 6 disc.

If you dial the intensity all the way down then the interior lights will not come on when you open a door. No need to disconnect the battery.
