Seems were getting what a lot of you want.... More Big Brother

The 30-year era of deregulation came to a sudden and surprising end on Sept. 16.
Late that evening the Federal Reserve extended $85 billion to take an unprecedented 80 percent stake in American International Group in order to save the floundering insurance giant. Less than two weeks earlier, Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. had announced that the federal government was taking over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the colossal mortgage agencies. Suddenly the U.S. financial sector could not survive without government help.
Since the long-ago days when Jimmy Carter was President, regulation has been a dirty word in Washington. Politicians of both parties vied to see how much of the economy they could free from the oppressive yoke of government control. The deregulation movement started when Carter signed the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978. Later, as it spread from energy to trucking to telecommunications to financial services, the rallying cry was the same: Less regulation, more growth.

I'm not sure who the "a lot of you" is...regardless, I think that the extremes of any philosophy, theory, religion, political party are never the solution. Somewhere there is a balance that needs to be observed...too strict an upbringing causes problems just as to not strict enough...finding the balance is the tough part...

I want nothing more than less government. In fact if I were ever to be President my goal would be a 25% reduction in the federal government. Probably wouldn't get too many votes from the gov workers though. eheh

I'm not going to go back and quote every entry where someone may have blamed the government. But there are those that have pointed out that the government should have done more. Now with regulation back in the picture.... more, just may have become a much closer reality.

I'll bet Jimmy Carter is still in a rage!

I also believe in one of your posts, you didn't like words or terms that have a quantifiable value (like all or none). The word "lot" doesn't mean majority or does it have the quantifiable value? I used the word "you" because I wasn't referring to "them". I will in the future try and use a less personal word.

Good Day All (can I use that here......YES!, I think I will):D

And my you all achieve the knowledge and wisdom you seek

Jeff
