Fake HID's on Ebay

Has anyone tried those 20 dollar "HID" kits off ebay? I have a set of black housing headlights I'm going to put in and thought I'd take the opportunity to get new bulbs. I don't want to mess with the cost and grief of the real HID conversion, but thought new bulbs might be a little brighter or at least look cooler with the blue tint. Any suggestions?
