wondering if anyone else has this problem everytime i was the old girl the fan belt squeals to high heaven until it dries out. wondering if it needs replacing. aint got but 17k on it. shouldnt stretch that quick.

I had the same problem at 11K. The dealer just replaced it.....no more squeal. ;)

Mine does after I wash it if the AC is on and some water got on the belt. No biggie its expected with the huge hole in the hood right above the belt.

There is belt conditioner you can spray on it. Autozone. Advanced Auto Parts.

Dont get radiator fluid on it either.....will rupture an ear drum!!!:D

Yeah, mine does it. Especially when I clean the engine.

That's the most Gawd Awful sound!!!

just wondering thanks for the input seems to me the idler pully may be weak never have seen any other motor do that form water and i always keep engine bays clean

Well needless to say, mine gets wet the majority of the time up here in the Festering Shit Hole. It started squealling once and I took it into the dealer. They replaced the belt and the noise was gone. It should not squeal dry or wet. Get it replaced.

mine did that last night when i left work

mine did it when i turned the ac on though. it is going in for a new steering wheel and paint warranty so i'll have it looked at then

Whats wrong with your paint and steering wheel?

Dealership noticed mine after they fixed the rear main seal. Will install this week.

STEERING WHEEL IS FADING AND PEELING AND THERE IS A BUBBLE ON THE AIR DAM ON THE BOTTOM

mine started squeeling last year at about 27,000 the balancer/pully was loose on the crank. had to be retorqued.

WD-40 works good to quiet it down.

mine squeels every time it rains. i have to let it idle for a while before I drive it. I don't want the belt to snap!

ill have it replaced still wondering about the idler pully tension. seemd it might be weak letting it squeak.

Just got back from the dealer, oil change/tire rotation time, and mentioned the sqealing belt. The service guy I talked to told me that this was normal. I told him that it was not normal because it is so loud! He said to make an appointment and they would look at it. :dontknow:

I am not sure, but I don't think that they know much about these trucks. They are a 5 star dealer and have a big service center, but I keep forgetting to ask if they have a viper tech there. :dontknow:
