Fire Sucks!

Dale you are blessed to not have a greater loss, than some stuff.

I am not minimizing what happened but it was minimal compared to what could have happened.

Glad you have such good friends to help in you times of need.

God bless you and the entire family.

Thanks again for all the kind words.

The cleaning is done. The floor cleaners will be next week. The contractor will start on Tuesday. So recovery is well under way. State Farm has been very engaged and helpful. I do not anticipate any "insurance" issues.

I did have a metal halide light on the tank. It was not the problem though. It was a commercial florescent light on the refugium that started the fire. It was a little 12" one.

Tanks are expensive to set up. I already have a 90 g tank and stand. That is just a small part. Next you need:
Sump
Return Pump
Lights
Protien Skimmer
Aux Pumps
Live Rock
Salt
misc Supplies...

All this adds up quick. But after the initial outlay it is not that bad.

Based on what I already had in parts, I only need a sump and a new skimmer to make my 90g work (assuming all my lights still work). Just those two things will run about 900.00. But the loss of my entire desktop tank represents a loss of about 1500.00. So insurance is covering the restart.

It truly is by the grace of God that my family is safe and my home is still standing.

Glad everyone is ok Dale. You had one hell of a run lately. Lets hope the next few years are trouble free.

I like this idea. But I do not regret the things I have learned from.

Take time and enjoy the people, they make this journey what it is.
