I happened to be doing some work at a NC DMV inspection station yesterday and started talking about some of the mods people are doing to their 10's. I mentioned cat deletes and the guy started spouting all the fines that could be levied on the owner as well as the shop that did it as well as any inspection center that passed a vehicle without cats.

This begs the question, how do you get your trucks inspected if your state requires it? I'm sure there is something federal pertaining to them or they wouldn't be required in the first place. Are we using the military policy of "Don't ask, Don't tell"?

I've made a list of names of those who have done the cat delete. I'll be forwarding it to your local DMV unless I start seeing some donations appear in my paypal account. , j/k, only kidding.

Florida does not have vehicle inspections....no cat = no problem....I couldn't bellieve it when I moved here....used to have all kinds of issues getting my jeeps/toys inspected in Dallas.....

Yo Big Sperm, believe it or not Washington state isn't bad either. I have had several vehicles where I removed the cat's and they never said anything at the testing stations although technically it's not legal they never seem to care.
By the way how do you like that growl?
My wife drove the truck the other day and was braggin about some guy she embaressed on the highway.

I moved from Florida where there are no inspections. Here in Illinois it varies from county to county...some have no inspection, some have very strict inspections. I have two years before mine is in the age range that they start inspections, but I have a plan. I have resonators in front of the magnaflow. I plan to cut those out, clamp in flow-thru cats, and go to the inspection station. With a well tuned super charger, some people pass the tailpipe check...but I will add the flow-thru cats for inspection...so I can plug the O2 sensors in...they are just strapped to the frame right now. Then after inspection I will clamp the resonators back in...

What do you think friends...will that get me thru the emissions checks?

The NC DMV inspection station I was at is located in Raleigh (Wake Co.). Most of the counties around here have a very thorough emissions/safety inspection. They even jack the vehicle up to verify that the cat(s) are there. You could conceivably gut the cats as long as it passes the o2 test. I think most around here are running high flows. The county I live in just does the safety inspection. I've heard that DMV periodically do roadside spot checks and if you are catless, serious fines are given. I've never seen one though. I just saw a bunch of folks talking about straight pipes and deleting cats and just wondered how y'all handled the inspections process.

I use to live in Florida, I remember some of the death traps running up and down the road down there. Maybe a safety inspection wouldn't be too bad an idea.
