... a cousin of mine bought one through my dads shop and I watched them install it. They set it on "Xtreme" mode and that truck would go! It's an 07 2500 Mega Cab 4x4. man at 80mph and nail it, what a difference. Rolls black smoke out! He backed it back down to "Towing Performance" mode when they got back for towing his boat.

When there blowing black smoke that means it is working hard. You can still whip his ass..

the black smoke actually is just unburnt fuel. be carefull of racing the big diesels, they can sneak up on ya!:burnout:

I would hope he has exhaust and an intake to cool it down, the egt's get quite high when it is in extreme. A big diesel that can move is fun but not a chance I would rather drive my work truck than the srt.

Exactly...work truck....they are noisy, smoke and stink....great for pulling and hauling but not performance driving..no matter how fast they run.....I hate seeing diesels at the track....some smoke so bad they have to stop the race and let the track clear (track is surrouned by hills...thunder valley)....all this being a IMO...;)

I beg to differ on that.... have you seen the new 6.7 cummins....

I can sit next to the exhaust with it running and can not smell any diesel at all... I can stand in front of the engine with the hood open while running and have a normal conversation and normal vocal levels... also while driving you can barely hear it in the cab at all... even while towing a 16,000lb trailer... its barley noticable at all.....

The only time I ever smell anything at all... is when I am sitting still and it goes into regeneration mode... then I smell it... but it does not smell like a diesel.. it has a jet turbine engine smell....

I like my 01 cummins its a great work / towing truck, but its getn long in the tooth i cant wait to get one of the new quiet diesels.
