Fluid Change in the Differential

I'm tackling a tranny and differential fluid change over the next few days. I got a ton of good info while searching the site. I also talked to one of my buddies who suggested I clean the inside of the pumpkin out with some spray brake cleaner to remove all the grime and crap and start fresh. This seemed like a bad idea to me because I always thought once the bearings got nice and broke in, you didn't want to clean them completely. I will probably be using Mobile 1 for the differential and believe the viscosity is supposed to be 75-90. Is this correct? For the tranny I will be using Synchromesh (I've got an 04 RC). I’ve got 16K on the truck now and bought it with 14.5K a few months back. I don’t know of the prior owners service history so I wanted to change the fluids with my regular oil change today or tomorrow when I get time. I also figure now would be a good time since the truck is being put away for the winter in a week or so once the weather takes a turn for the worse (Winter is a month late so far this year!!). I’m just curious if anyone has any hints or suggestions from past experiences’s with this truck. Thanks!!

I/we did not spray out the pumpkin when we had the rear end opened up... we did however clean it out with rags, and wiped it down.
We replaced the fluid with Royal Purple... my neighbor and the fellas at the dealership swear by it...so that's what I put in it... would have never used it otherwise.
We used the Max Gear 75w 140

Suncoast used Amsoil 75w-140 for my QC. I put a new pan on, so I can't tell you about the cleaning the pan, other than it is probably a good thing to do. I still have the stock pan if someone wants it.

yep, good thing u didnt change it b4 bradenton, then u woulda had to do it twice in one month!
