For the Professor . . .

Jeez... All that muscle in a box.

No offense Roy.. ;)

I just remember that movie with Dudley Moore called Crazy People and they had an ad for Volvo... Boxy, but good. LOL

On a sidenote, I used to work in at a Volvo dealer in parts. Alot of folks didn't which exact model Volvo they owned. Here's a classic!

Customer: I need XXX for my 93 Volvo.
Me: OK, what model Volvo do you have?
Customer: I dunno, its kinda square . . . Oh, and it has 4 doors.

I'm thinking to myself, you really narrowed it down. Lets see there's the 240, 850, 940, 960 . . .

But yes, that's one helluva sleeper!

Well, he has one more turbo than I have...so mine is not quite as powerful...but mine is never driven like he drives his!

What a great vid...thanks for thinking of me and (they are not boxes! We refer to them as bricks.) my beloved '97 850R Wagon!

That was the highlight of the afternoon.

Shut up! I was trying to let that pass...without notice.:p

There is something that stinks in Sweden...A Volvo owned by Ford, powered by a twin turbo...chevy!

Now that is integration if I ever saw it.

Thats the Swedish.. Stay neutral like the Swiss and it all comes together.

Thats not the same engine either.. right?

Its a GM LS1. I doubt its a "crate" engine. Probably came out of a doner car. The LS1 powers 97-04 vettes, 98-02 Camaro's and Trans Am's and 04 GTO's, as well as Austrailian "Holden" vehicles.

One more turbo, and 3 more cylinders!! :D I bet that thing would mean(er) with the an AWD set-up from a S60R/V70R!!! Awww, come on!! Don't afraid to push the pedal on the right!!! :D :D

Glad you enjoyed it Roy . . . There are some mean "bricks" out there.

Did the video stimulate blood flow? :D

Looks like a car I could have some fun in!

Of course, if Roy would cut me loose in his Volvo, I could probably manage a smile or two as well.

WhatDoYaSay Roy?;) :burnout: :D

Next plans are for a T18 turbo which is a significant up grade from the current T16; a reversal of the flow of the intercooler...and maybe a little spray...hehehe.

Love kicking ass in a Volvo station wagon!!!

The internals of the B5234T5 are pretty solid. To my knowledge I've never seen the T5 engine need anything other than a timing belt and front cam seals. There's common turbo return line seal and gasket, and the occasional front/rear crank seals. Other than those minor things, I've never seen rods/bearings or mains giving out.

Throw some more boost to that beast!!

What mods do you have now? I could search for the thread you posted, but I am lazy. :)

Motronic Stage II flash, and full three inch IPD exhaust (growls very nicely) H&R performance springs all around, Bilstein shocks and structs, engine stabilizer bar, Goodyear Eagle F1's and a K&N drop in...

Dyno's just over 300 front wheel hp!

Currently having a little problem with the right rear bottoming out...may have to get a little more suspension work done.

You are so correct...I have had this car since mile 9. Aside from replacing a few cv boots and a half dozen 02 sensors it has been wonderful...going to replace the timing chain and possibly pully's myself...in a week or two...it is at 150k and it has about 80k on the current timing belt. May have to junk it if I screw up like I usually do when I take on complicated tasks.

Glad you track these cars...there were only 355 of the 850R Sport Wagons made in 1997 so it is fairly rare. I hate to think that my wife may lay down the law and make me get rid of it if I get an '08 Viper...looking for a compromise...just bought her a $7800 refrig...hope that may start the "keep the 850R campaign"

Wow! Thats impressive with those mods! I bet the flash made a night and day difference.

Hmm, not sure what the culprit is to your rear suspension problem. Its been several years since I slung parts over the counter. Have the upper engine mounts and sway bar links held up? I remember those being a common "problem".

I've seen 300k miles on the T5 engines, be good to her, and she'll be good to you! I wish I had some tips for the timing belt swap. I know the "parts changers" could knock one out in a couple of hours. May as well do the tensioner too, while its exposed. And all the front engine seals.

I've always all of the "R' line. I'd love to get my hands on a white 850R. There's something abuot the V70 and S60R I just LOVE. A fridge eh, buy her a diamond, that'll shut her up! :D

Hadn't thought about the front seals! Good suggestion...

Thanks,

Roy

No problemo. It would have majorly sucked to have finished your timing belt swap and a few months later one of the front seals start leaking! Doint work twice, SUCKS. :( :)

Do you have a website devoted to the 850R? :dontknow:
