I purchase some catless mids from Boomer to get more performance out of my truck.

Right now it has B&B mids with Hi-Flow cats. For daily use, do I run the risk of clogging the cats? I am swapping to the catless mids when I go racing at the track.

Any known issues for daily use?

bo this is just from my perspective Im sure others will jump in here , but normally you loose about 10-15hp with any cats less with hi flos, more with stock.
but on Forced induction gettin rid of the exhaust is as important as taking it in, so the effects may be more, might want to quiz Gary on that.

But I see no reason it should clog the cats up since it was tuned with them on.

I asked him and he recommended the catless. I just want to be legal while around that's all.

Can you bolt the cats back on when you have to go do smog inspection? Not sure if Boomers mids will have to be permanent in your case, as I haven't heard his mids being a bolt on solution for the B&B's.

seems to me that when you lose the cats you will want to look at your tune....at the level of your build....any change needs to be addressed via your tune.....

Rick when we put the catless mids on it will need to be richened up a bit.
the problem with cats and blower is the blower needs to be ran way richer than a NA application, this extra fuel going thru the exhaust can over time clog a cat, even hi-flo ones. it may not happen anytime soon, but it can, or may not happen for a long time. i am always a pessimist, as i have seen it happen.
what i have been thinking about is servo controlled exhaust cutouts to by pass the cats when you want to really firedown on it-ie drag strip use. now i dont know the inspection qaulifications/ramifications would be to have a set of those installed prior to the cats? just an idea i had in my head since the other day when we talked.
one cool thing is you did get 700hp thru cats!

Thanks bud. I was thinking about that...but I might as well put the Hi-Flows on for the inspection..and use the catless for the rest of the time...

i ran cutouts on a duramax for a couple of years it worked like a charm, it was expensive but it looked good had a swith in the dash you couold swap it at will never had any problems. it was powdercoated, i can find out who made it if you need me to.

Sure...I am just wondering if they would give shit in VA for having them...

have no idea we dont get checked down here, i had a edge juice chip in mine so the exhaust temps got pretty hot especially when hauling tractors, bulldoziers and stuff so they can take what you put at them. as long as they dont climb under the truck youll be in good shape i had mine rerouted back into the exhaust behind the muffler. a good exhaust shop should be able to do it.

anytime will try to find the info on the cutouts, boomer i thought posted something about some.

I plan on installing 2 hi-flows for mine. Well I say plan to as I have had the cats sitting in my room for about 5 months now. Along with 172 T-stat and some new tips and a 3" Roe muffler. One day, one day.

Or maybe you could get it inspected down here in the Valley ? they NEVER check emissions equipment.

There are only a few counties in VA that do emissions testing. He just happens to live in one.

Gary-

How about vacuum/boost actuated cutouts? Hitting the loud pedal would have new meaning!:D
