Front and Rear Window Seals are Bad!

A while back I noticed my rear slider widow was leaking when it rained. I finally took it to the dealer for some other stuff and they checked it out. Said they'd replace the seal under the remaining warranty. They had to order some parts so I took the truck home. Went on a road trip....blasted back home at 130mph:burnout: at times. Got home and noticed black goopy shit streaked across my roof! Looked closely and the front seal where the windshiels meets the roof was totally gone leaving a big space and black goop everywhere! Called the dealer to tell him to also order the front seal....he checked all his part #'s and said there is no seal on the top front of the windshield. What ever....he'll see what I"m talking about when I take it back in.

I was just wondering if others ever had this problem?:dontknow:

window was glued in and not allowed to dry needs to sit at least 3 or 4 hours before its moved

Wierd, never heard of that. I think Eddie might be right though, they usually place tape around the window to keep it in place and so the goo doesnt do that before it dries. Did they replace the glass????

Our trucks do not have an upper outer reveal molding. There is a gap between the roof and the windshield. However if your windshield has been changed it is possible someone put a molding in there to cover up any sctarches they may have put in the paint while removing the old glass. That molding would have an adhesive called butyl tape, that is what it sounds like you have on your roof. The back glass is an encapsulated unit that is glued into the opening, either the unit is leaking, or it was not glued in correctly.

Dealer has not replaced anything yet....they did say they will have a glass guy remove the rear window and re-install it. Something was in that gap before! There are no scratches on the roof.....just streaks where that black glue stufff blew onto it.

Red- dealer has not done any work to the truck yet. I bought it used....dunno if it was ever replaced. I am going to look at a truck on a lot to see the difference.

Rice I would give Begood a call and talk with him while looking at your truck, he installs glass for a living, so he should be able to help bigtime.

Rice eater look at the bottom center of your windshield, there should be some words in the glass there. It should say "Safeguard" and have the Chrysler Pentastar. If it says anything other that that it has been changed. Also they must be very cafeful when removing the back glass, because it is very easy to damage the paint when removing it.
