Fuel Consumption - OffShore Boats??

Hey does anyone know a good rule of thumb or have experience with fuel consumption for some go fast boats??

I'm looking at some 38 to 47 footers " Gofast style" and was wondering what the fuel consumption was.

Typical packages would be 2x 525s or 3x 525s

then you step it up to the supercharged duals or tripples.. aprox 700hp each

anyhow on that note, does anyone know how to figure out the fuel usage..

Thanks,

If money were no object I would buy a Hustler Powerboat http://www.hustlerpowerboats.com:rock:

The owner of Pier 33 in my old home town used to sell Hustler... His personal boat back in the late 90's was a Hustler with 3 Lamborghini V-12's in it. .... It was about '45-'49ft and was BAD ASS.... His son used to also race a Apache. I wanted the Warren family to adopt me soooo bad, back then.

haven't read all the replies here but my brothers boat (21 foot, 1075 mercruiser) is arround 40 gallon per hour at 80% of the RPM... .
fuel mileage is never an issue on race engines so don't expect an economic boat....:D

prices are dirt cheap right now. we just made a offer on a 52 foot convertible we had built in 2003. he was asking 800k for it and we offered him 500k and he took it pending a survey. its in jersey so we will have to go get it. point is dont be scared to lowball. big toys are selling right now. like joe said its a buyers market.

Why not get an off shore cat with a pair of 525's Supercharged they would propell a 35-foot boat up to 100+ mph but still have decent fuel economy?

My old 28-foot cat with a single 496 and Vortect supercharger would run 80+ with out any issues..well that was until she sank at the lake :)

1075 runs 40gph that good news, I was expecting that to runn 100ghp.

based on that number a 500 should run 20ghp at 80% hey that's not to shabby for gph.

did i mention it' tuned for 700 HP right now (don't really need the extra HP's for racing) :D

Congrats Eddie!! That's a ripping deal on a 52 assuming it passes a survey. So is that a Cabo or a Viking?

Wow thats a nice boat, I've always saw these boats on the water never really paid much attention,, Now looking at some pics with the interior they are extremely nice... wow.. should be a fun boat...

GO DIESEL!
triple 1000hp cummins will be faster and use less fuel. 30% less to be exact.
even triple 500cats would be good.

I Have a good friend looking to sell his 2002 Eliminator Daytona 30 ft; twin 500 EFIs with 140hr on each; bravo XR drives with IMCO shorty lowers. Has a double axle custom Extreme Trailer included. It is within the price range you are looking at.

He is upgrading to a tripple screw go fast boat..

His also has a 32 Chaparral Signature (cruiser) for sale if anyone is interested.

PM if interested.

its a custum boat pops had built. gillman marine out of panama city. dry boat that can take some rough water. all hand laid top to bottom. took 3 years to build. 2nd one we've had. my dads a horse trader. he ran that boat twice and went to miami boat show and a guy down there had to have it...lol we did that with the first one and made a killin on it. bought it back 12 years later and went through it and sold it again. not a bad way to make a buck.

Nice! I've met several guys who have custom boats built and sell them for a lot more than they paid for it to someone that just has to have one now instead of waiting.

We need pics! Also if you need help moving it let me know. I've moved a couple of boats up and down the coast. Hell at least stop by when you're passing SC, I live just out of the Intracoastal :D
