Does anyone know if it's possible to tow 7000 lbs with a Jeep SRT8 and what company makes the trailer hitch?

your stock hitch sould hold it i pulled my friend srt charger to the track with my r/c

Chrysler doesnt recommend towin with the 6.1 BUT, the 5.7 can tow 12,000 lbs, and they share the same tranny. The only problem I would think would be the rear end. I think 7,000 lbs would be fine. just my .02

That And your center exit exhaust probably won't allow for a hitch...

Aftermarket makes a hitch that drop down below it, but the exhaust heats up whatever you are towing

i had a guy come in to the rv place where i used to work, we did a hitch in his srt8, it pulled the trailer fine (6k lbs), but was getting the tounge of the trailer very hot (150+ degrees) and melted the paint on the tounge

I did a search and found the mopar exhaust kit that actually turns the exhaust down but it looks really funky. My question is whether or not they actually fabricate a hitch for that capacity and will the suspension handle it? I will be towing approximately seven miles to the marina.

7 miles aint shit, dont worry about it you will be fine.

i have a cherokee srt as a daily driver. it doesnt tow well for long distances. 3500 pounds max. mopar makes a hitch just for the truck too. seven miles sould be no problem

Link one is the actual hitch kit. Link two gives you specifications on towing capacity.

I was about to do the same Ron.....this is an excellent forum for the 10 but limited when it comes to the other SRTs.....but it wasnt meant to be an 8 forum.......and I think jack & Patrick have no problem with that..

7 miles should not be a problem at all. Prolly won't even be long enough to heat your tongue up IMO.

Well, I just lost on two different auctions for 2009 GC SRT8's. Both were brand new. One went for 27800.00 and the other for 30100.00. Two people just stole some SRT8's. I believe the dealer made a mistake when they listed them and did not put a reserve price. Both were loaded to the gills. Nav, sunroof, backup camera and rear entertainment. I wonder if they will go thru with the sales?

You are kidding?????.....I would have bought both at those prices......used 08s are bringing $33K on the dealer auctions......dang it...:argh:

I bought a 1998 Lincoln Town Car for that exact purpose ($4000). Pulls the Mako 25 with no problem...rear air bags make it very nice!

Damn they must be going out of business to let them go for those prices.

The problem with regular Jeeps is, the SUV is rated to pull 7-8000 BUT the wheel base and smallness can really give you a lot of problems, you need mirror extenders to see around the trailer, sway bars are a necessary as well as the weight-distributing hitch set up, then the Jeep really acts "squirrelly" if you get passed by a truck or big RV.....the jeep in my opinion is not a good tow vehicle !! Just my $.02...
