seeing how gas will probably hit $5.00 a gallon soon i have to comeup with something for my qc ,thought about changing out the gears but that wont get me much and will affect my launch.

kinda pricey yes but it should pay for itself in a year.

after speaking with them in length this is the best solution .

right now i'm running 2600 rpm's at 80mph,the rpm's will drop to 2000@80mph

@2000 rpm's i get 15.2mpg @65mph

so i'm gaining about 4 mpg at the same speed.

it adds up quickly

i have 90k on my truck ya tard,4k for this seems like a deal to me ,it also gives my engine a lower rpm range overall,hence less wear on my motor

i wasnt gonna say it but you need to save that money for the rc so you can get in the 7's

Save your money and get a 4.10 gear set out of an 04. Or get a 3.90 ring and pinion from Dodge, that will be $1000 at most installed.

Or a diesel and a chip will get you over 20mpg!

Something you might have overlooked....your truck may get X MPG at 65MPH turning 2K RPM but it is going to take more power to move that truck at 80MPH even if it is turning 2K RPM.......I would bet you will only see 1-2 MPG better at most...but that is better..:dontknow:

I didn't know of any SRT-10s coming with 3.90 gears. However that gear would also require a new carrier to fit it.

4:10's or 3:90 wont launch very well at all ,4:10's would only get me maybe 250rpm difference as well,this gear is just an overdrive with the capabilities of upto 1200 hp.

and if u have a 500 hp motor in a truck thats basically a slt with add on's why on earth would it need more rpm's with the higher hp it already has than the stock trucks with the same weight and less hp

its not like i havent discussed swapping gears with a few members already,if i thought i would net a decent gain from it without losing the lower end i would do it.

and really i have the most miles of any srt-10 owner hands down ,i've spent enough on gas to buy another truck!

i never said it came out my srt-10 it came out the hemi ram 2006 i gave my son after i bought my srt-10 ,,

The reason I said that is because the Hemi Ram has a completely different rear axle than the SRT-10.

is it really fair? i mean u only own a 1/8 mile truck ,we know my truck aint gonna heat soak! .

tell ya what i'll have both trucks there this time,u can run against the qc(with my suncoast tranny and nos and slicks!)
