Okay I have talked to one person on here about gears, He gave me good advice and his POV on them. I have a 04 rc with 4.11. I wanted to go up to 4.88, Any pro's and con's. Gas is not a issue for me:marchmellow: Just want to get input good or bad from everyone on here.

okay, you actually have 4:10s'. i will be upgrading to the 4:56 when i get home (have a set sitting on the shelf). they should make the truck quicker stoplight to stoplight....er i mean quicker down the track ,not to mention being a little easier on the clutch. as far as the 4:88s', if you race at a track your going to have to shift to fifth,before you pass the quarter mile mark(you'll be hitting the rev limiter),and that will slow your time. i believe the 4:10s' were put in the 04s' to take the top end speed record away from the lightning,crowning it the "fastest production pick-up"

I have 4.88's and they are great around town,in hilly country,in stop-and-go traffic and even on the interstate.

You will be shifting a LOT :rock:

Okay. Sounds good. I don't race at our race track pretty old and heard to make you run least 2 tenths slower, And next track is 2 hour's away At budds creek. I just want something for the street, Will the 88's make 6th gear more useable cause now If i'm doing 75 in 6th it's 1500 rms. Kinda just want more of a redlight to redlight fun.

Based on what you posted above then yes..4.88s are for you...

One of the things I like best about my '04 ( with 4:10 gears) a mustang gt will hit 3rd on my street, I will still be in first.
