Gen 10 problem

I got my new shifter for boomer friday and i installed it saturday.
After i buttoned everything up itook it out for a test drive.
It wouldn't go into 2nd 4th or sixth.
So i took it out checked that every thing was right and put it back together again
It did the same thing
I put my stock shifter in and it shifts ok again.
has anyone else had this problem ? :

Make sure the shifter male nob is seated in the female tranny slot??

Damn that sounds bad!!

Also make sure you put in the correct way forward!!

i did that the base of the shifter has one end longer than the other and the longer end goes to the front

I know I called there yesterday and that's what they said.
I'll try him monday and see what he says

Is the stick hitting the boot ring when you try to put it in 2nd?

Maybe you have the handle bolted backwards to the shifter and its hitting the shifter boot?

These things fit.............gotta be something simple here......make sure the base in in there correctly and the shifter handle is mounted on the proper side etc....

Boomer will figure it out for ya. Sorry for the hassles.

Yours was the prototype (Gen 9.6) .......................... That's why some of us don't have ours yet. :dontknow:

Good luck with it, I'm sure it's something simple these things are machined to millionths of an inch.

make sure the tranny and the shifter you are installing are both in neutral.

i had a similar problem. not quite as bad though.

you have the advanced version with skip shift built in.

Put the tranny in nuetral

tighten all bolts then back them out jsut a tad so the base will barely move.

slam the lever back and forth from first to second to center the base, then retighten.

the base is just not centered on the tranny:dontknow:

I just had a long talk with BOOMER..... (awfully nice guy)...

He said that Tony (Stank-face) is exactly right in the above post...

Gary also stressed that when placing the shifter tongue (the shaft with the ball at the end) down into the tranny BE CAREFUL TO GET THE TONGUE DOWN INTO THE BUSHING....OTHERWISE, YOU SIMPLY PUSH THE BUSHING OUT OF THE WAY AND IT DOESN'T SEAT PROPERLY.

Gary said I should get mine (fingers crossed) by THIS Thursday.
