Couple of weeks ago I went to see the Dr because I thought I had kidney stones. They did the usually checks and came up negative for stones.
But I was told that my bad cholesterol was a little high (136) He said he'd like to see it under 130. So a little diet & exercize were in order.
I decided that since my youngest son does Tae Kwan Do maybe I should start doing that as well. Looked like fun and I had been wanting to start anyway.
So Fri & Monday i meet with the instructor and he gives me the 1 on 1 intro with the basics. I feeling pretty good (though winded) & The Instructor says I've got alot of leg power & have good form for a beginner.
Tue comes around and I go to my first scheduled class. Did the warm-up,basics, and learned a few new moves. Last 10 min of class is always dedicated to a 1-1 free sparring with no(light ) contact.
I'm in the ring with a Green belt who is damn good. We trade a couple of kicks then WHAM felt like someone whacked my heel with a club.
Well to make a longer story short I wound up tearing my left Achilles tendon.
Doctor visit tommorow will tell me how bad it is.
Looks like Jet Li is spared for awhile:D

That hurts just thinking about it

Dude!!!!! WTF???? I read that whole thing trying to figure out the punch line. Then I realized it was real. Feel bad for you bro. Well just try to take it easy. Don't be kicking the dog and shit.

The Achilles is a nasty injury. I tore mine running distance in my 20's. Felt like an electric shock running from the point of my heel up the back of my leg... Did it tear away?

Shit that hurts....... It still bugs me if I jog too long on treadmill....

The definition of older middle age:

The age at which you can do just about anything you want to.....

You just don't want to......

Hope you heal up soon...... Bruce......

Ouch!! Sorry to hear about the injury, that ones a bitch :(

Dont feel bad about your cholesterol, mine is 364 and eat healthy :D

Sorry about your "Bruce Lee" form getting side tracked. That is a really bad deal.
I hope that you are not on the sidelines for long with the injury.
Wishing you a very speedy recovery.

At least you didn't do it playing dodge ball. We had on guy do that. And then while he was doing his physical therapy his other one went out on him. Had to have surgery on both and was in casts for awhile.

Dr checked me out this am. Conclusion, tore that sucker completely. Not detached from the bone so thats a plus.
Surgery is set for Monday at 10:30am, He'll suture the tendon back together and stitch me back up. He said expect a 5mo recovery.
Now I just have to figure a way to build stamina and get cardio workouts during the recovery.
Thanks for the kind words guys
Marking my calendar now for rematch with Jet Li

You do know that he (the Doc) has to stick his arm all the way up the inside of your leg up to you ass, grab the tendon and pull it back down to your heel don't you :(

kidding.....

Man, that sucks, let us know how it goes. I'll pray that you get a smokin hot PT to help you get back into shape....:D

Geez that sucks. Sorry to hear it.:( Hopefully you'll have a fast recovery.

With a bad back (had surgery years ago and feel great now, but I don't want to F it up ever again!!) and so-so knees, I stay away from that kinda stuff. Don't really feel comfortable running either. I just stick with lifting, push-ups, crunches, and that kinda crap. Of course, sitting on my azz all day in a truck doesn't really help...:dontknow:

I hope for a fast recovery, Maybe physical sports isn't a good way for you to drop your cholesterol...I'd stick with Cheerios :D :D

Actually, you have it backwards. To keep from making a scar on the ankle which will blister when he wears shoes, They perform the surgery through his ass. It's a little more difficult but better for the patient in the long run. He just can't poo for 5 months.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Get well soon. I'll inform Jet Li so he can start training.

Dude, that sucks. Sorry to hear about it. I tore my Planter Facia muscle a few years ago while skipping on a sidewalk with my son. Yes, skipping. That is the muscle that goes through the arch of your foot and allows you to rock from heel to toe as you walk. It tears and you can no longer move your foot below the ankle. I was laid up and unable to walk at all for two months. They said I may never walk without a limp for the rest of my life and will have to wear inserts in my shoes for life.
To cheer you up, I do not wear inserts except if it starts feeling sore. I do not walk with a limp unless I am really tired, and I was up and running 10 miles four times a week six months later!! I went from 210lbs to 255lbs in two months and then back down to 205lbs four months after that!!

Great another assf^(king for Me to look forward too. Swear to God that and Hallway sex is all I get anymore:( .
On the brighter side at least my truck is a auto,so I can at least drive it around while I heal. How bad would that suck to not be able to drive a stick for 5-6 months:confused:
Oh wait my 442 is a 4spd FAAAWWWKKK

Really thanks for the thoughts and kind words guys. Makes me feel better to come here and get a few laughs

Dam dude, that sucks!!!

My job has me walking all day, so I just lift the heavy weights and sweat like a pig during every workout. I hate cardio excercises....too boring.

Good luck and start eating more salads since you cant excercise at all for a while.

My wife had the surgery twice..send her a PM and I am sure she will tell you all the secrets of getting better...Painful injury fo sho.....:(

Update:
Had Surgery Monday and Doc was able to stitch it back together.
Tendon had severed near the top,up by the calf muscle.
Another 1/4 or so higher and he wouldn't have been able to stitch it together.
On the mend, in a cast, in pain and full of drugs. I love modern medicine
I'll catch up with everything later

Glad things went well with surgery ;)

Hope everything heals quickly and you're are back on your feet soon :D
