So ive heard a few people talk about this upgrade but not to much info on this. Any here put the GM solenoid in the 48re? Benifits? If i go to GM which one do i get? Any type of adapors or anything i need to buy??

My tranny been having issues for a LOOOOOOOONG time but it does seem to be ok after 2nd gear so i wondering if this upgrade might help it in 1st and shifting into 2nd

I'll let ya know, I just bought the upgraded solenoide kit on eBay will be doing it this Sunday!

I have it done and it's a must, the gm solinoids are bigger and they go right in with no mods! Mine have been working perfectly!

Only thing I noticed when I had GM solenoids in was that the shifts seemed to be a little rougher bc the point of GM solenoid is to allow better flow. More flow = more pressure = rougher shift. I had them taken out and returned to factory specs.

Did you just buy the Solenoid from GM or did you get the "Kit" that comes with a new billet housing and stuff?

Ok, Sounds like this is what im looking for then. I have the Transgo Shift kit and i want a more FIRM shift. Thanks man

Yeah but that kit doesn't include the press transducer. I am changing both press transducer and gov solenoid!

TRU TRU. That transducer sensor is another 40-50 bucks so like 185-195 total with those guys. Guess i probley should do both why i have it apart but mine were changed less then 200 miles ago when my tranny was rebuilt so i dont no...

A harder shift is good for the transmission when its soft its always slipping into gear.

Well, I'll need some more road testing but I am un-impressed so far. May have to readjust the bands again. Sun Coast fully built 48re with a verter is looking pretty good right now!

Well after driving around for a while my truck no longer has the 1-2 hunt in the tranny. Shifts are smoother not harder, could be from my band adjustment. Tranny feels more driver friendly but still lacks that put down power. TQ verter is def needed at this point. Gov solenoid & transducer were simple to do. Changed the filter and cleaned off the magnet while I was in there and topped it of with Royal Purple ATF. Easy job but minimal results. Stock 48re is def the limiting factor in these QC.

The 48RE SUX!!!!! I couldn't wait to get mine outta my truck! It's a heavy S.O.B. too. I musta lost 200lbs getting rid of that damn thing. Gained about 40-50 HP back as well from that power robbing POS excuse for a tranny. Even the Cummins guys hate that tranny.:burnout:
