I'm sure you've all heard the story by now. But I just wanted to acknowledge the efforts of every anti-terrorism agent who helped to avert this disaster.

WASHINGTON – Ten flights were part of a plot to blow up planes heading to the U.S. from Britain, a U.S. counter-terrorism official said. The terrorists were on planning a dry run of the attack within the next days, the source said.

As many as 24 people were arrested in connection with the investigation.

According to investigators, the would-be terrorists planned to smuggle explosives on board the planes in hand luggage. The plan was to bring disassembled bomb components aboard and put them together during the flight. Fort Worth-based American Airlines, Houston-based Continental Airlines and United Airlines were the apparent targets.

I had an Iranian as a Poitical Science professor. He offered a very interesting point of view and insight into the Middle East, He was amazingly objective and fair minded. He told us the week after 9/11 he was traveling back east. He said it was almost comical when he went through security. There he was with his Persian looks being waved through without a second glance while a 12 year old blonde girl was being wanded. He asked, "What was wrong with that picture? How many 12 year old blonde girls have recently high jacked a plane and flew it into a building?"

The funny thing is that we (the politically correct in this country, not really "we") have an issue with profiling to weed out possible terrorists in airports. Yet, these very same people have no problem at all with local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies with "profiling" bikers (and other groups, but I know about this one firsthand). They applaud the "tough stance" that these agencies take when they stop us for shakedowns along the side of the road. It makes them feel all safe inside, because now they don't have to worry about the big, bad bikers breaking into their homes and runnning off with their little girls and wives. Now don't get me wrong here, I'm not complaining that this happens, it's part of the life we have chosen. I'm smart enough to realize that and accept it. But I sure wish these same folks would get with the program and come to realize that the real thing they have to fear is international terrorism. These folks are some real bad guys, be sure of that. And if we know what to look for, why do we have laws that prevent that very thing from happening? As the old saying goes, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, well then, it's probably a duck.

And last but certainly not least kudos to the folks that prevented this attack from happening. I am no fan of leo's (if you can believe that LOL), but these folks did the job at hand and did it well.
