Going in for maintenance tomorrow. Suggestions?

Taking the truck in to the Dodge dealership for maintenance tomorrow and plan on having the following done:

Bands adjusted
Transmission flushed and filters replaced
Swap transmission pan for a Mag hytec DD

Any other suggestions while I have it in there. I am at 15000 miles. When I was scheduling my appointment the service manager that I was talking to did not even realize that our trucks had bands which made me nervous.

I am assuming their transmission guy is going to be the one doing all of this so I am not overly concerned that the service manager did not know this. Should I be concerned?

I have PM'd flyinlow before and he stated that these guys have not done him bad in the past but I did not find out if he had a particular service manager that he used.

I would normally do most of this work myself but I wanted them to put on the transmission pan so they will not come back later and try to void my warranty...

Other suggestions:

- Diff. Fluid change (cheaper to do yourself, by about $200)
- Oil change w/ filter (cheaper to do yourself, by about $150)
- Air filter change (cheaper to do yourself, by about $80)
- Tire Pressure check (cheaper to do yourself, by about $50)

The above mentioned are all VERY easy to do, some without tools!
There are (2) DIY articles on the Diff. Fluid change, and the others are pretty damn painless.

One of you grocery-getters should do a DIY on a trans. fluid change/filter, and add on a new trans. pan.

Be forewarned. This service can run close to $600. So have money in the bank or room on the credit card. Gonna be like fresh meat on the cellblock. Hope they don't do you that way.

I had the same response from A service advisor and he said that the bands are electronically controlled. But the Our "SRT" manual says Adjust them.

Overall would the concenus be not to take it to a dodge dealership if you are concerned about warranty (Mag Hytec pan install)? Or should I just do this myself? I don't have a whole lot of $$ laying around but I definitely can not afford to have problems with the engine and dodge decide not to honor the warranty because of work that I did.

Go to a Good Tranny shop. Lee Myles Has good reputation atleast in My Area.
they quoted me 450.00 to adjust bands, change fluid, Add shift kit:rock:

Just my opinion,
If you do the work yourself,You,ll save a bundle!!
If you do the work correctly,You shouldn,t have a problem!!
I do not think a band adjustment is concidered maint.dontknow: )
A rear diff. service (in my opinion)is important!!
All services needed are dependent on mileage,of course!!
Using my dealership as an example,Warr. issues are very fair!!
Actually, some of the services can be addressed on Oct. 6th at the G.T.G.!!

It's all up to you and your relationship with the Dealership.
With the M-M Act they shouldn't be able to void your warranty for an aftermarket pan, however that may not stop them from trying.

Where are you located in FL? I'm sure somebody knows a place for you to go to for good work.

The same dealer you are going to replaced my oil cooler even with the turbo.

You already have a stage II so your warranty is void if they pull the mileage on the stock unit when you go in and they are looking to void warranties so just do it yourself and be confident it was actually done correctly by someone who cares if it was done correctly.Keep the old pan and if you break something important put it back on also before taking it to the dealer.

My .02 but then I don't let the kind of people, "techs", they normally have at large dealerships touch my toys!

Alright I think I am going to take it to a transmission shop to do this work instead of the dealership. Thanks for the info guys! I am going to try a local shop that is suppose to be pretty good. Again thanks for the advice.

I like the way you think!! - I do not trust the dealerships techs (or whatever they call themselves) to work on anything I own. They generally don't give a shit in the first place whether the work is done right or not. If you don't hawk their ass you will never have peace of mind that it was done right. Sorry to be negative, I have had bad experiences.

You can't even get hardly get a simple oil change done properly these days unless you watch the work being done or you know and trust your dealer.

You have DIY articles here, as well as some of the best techs for these trucks: US!!!
Yes- there are some guys that can barely get the gas cap off, but there are plenty of others that had intake valves for breakfast. I know that I'd be happy to help you with any tech issues, either here or on the phone.


BTW- Bone is the one with muffler bearings that need to be lubed.
I hear his next mod is cross-drilled brake lines.
