me and a few friends are headed to south africa in june 2010 for the world cup. flights are wicked expensive $3300+ RT. does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on cheaper ways to get there?

If you are flying, you are stuck with what the rates are. If you are not in a great hurry, and want to make a vacation of it, you can check into booking passage on a freighter. Most people do not know it, but many freighters will also take passengers. They have nice cabins, and the food is good. You will not have the entertainment of a cruise ship, but then the prices are cheap.
