No, it's not a project car, a motorcycle, or even a four-wheeler. But it is something that I spent at least 6 months deciding on, and I had a blast tearing up the yard today.......

I really thought long and hard on the zero turn mowers, but at the end of the day--considering what I wanted to do with a mower, I had to go with a traditional lawn/garden mower. This thing is a beast. Going to try and pull the truck tomorrow.:D

AWESOME! The X500 rawks!   It's a great mid-range between the bigger JD's and the "Lowes" JD's. :) That 25hp Deere engine is supposed to rival the Kohler in almost every way, too. You made a great choice, IMO. Good luck with it. :)

nothing runs like a deere

I think I made the dealer do something for the first time ever. There was another mower that I was looking at, but I knew it was slightly slower. So I made him get on one, and I got on another, and we had a JD drag race. Imagine, a Viper truck owner being concerned with speed......who would have thought................

Yep, from an actual lawn/garden mower, the only one that is bigger is the X700, and my 2.5 acres of grass didn't need anything that big. The X300 probably would have met my needs, but the drag race that I mentioned earlier was the determining factor.

The X700 offers a diesel.... :D Other than that, yeah.... too big for a few acres. It's nice to have a PTO, but if you don't need it. :dontknow: :)

I'm curious what kind of deal you got... 10% below retail, maybe???

My brother in law has a tractor next door, so I have the PTO if needed.;)

JD dealers here in NC are funny--most won't budge off MSRP. However, I found one that has gained recognition for their deals. The X500 retails for $5699 + tax. I got mine for $5230 out the door. I'm happy!

That's a saving of over $800... I'd say that's a good deal!

I say go with the twin turbos. Much better than the paxton.;) :D

Congratulations on a nice tractor.

I think Stinker has a nitrous kit for it. Remember, I am in NC...there is a lawn mower drag strip right down the road. And no, I'm not taking mine.

You're so full of shit... MTD makes Cub Cadet (among others), NOT John Deere. The engines in the "Box Store" models are made by Briggs and Stratton and Kohler. The models X300 and up are made by John Deere.

My wife's family owns a John Deere distributor.... you haven't a CLUE what you are talking about.

they share tons of stuff. they make them just different enough for people not to spot them. my best friend got a cub cadet, and thought thats what he got until i revealed the truth. nothing can beet a real JD, except the 8 grand you save going with the cheaper ones, lol. if all you do is mow grass there is nothing wrong with mtd tractors.

the farm tractor dealer up here that sells only john deere told me different.
:dontknow:
guess he might have lied to me, but to what end?

cubs aren't deer...

bears are furry...and some get to be over a thousand pounds...but they're herbivores....

deer are good for breakfast sausage, jerky, and children's movies:D
