Got my first Lightning kill!!

I was getting onto the highway when I saw a Lightning behind me also on the entrance ramp. I was just tooling along when we both got onto the highway and he pulled up next to me as I was lightly accelerating in third gear. The passenger gestured for me to get on it as the driver of the Lightning accelerated. Not wanting to disappoint and without hesitating I hit 2nd and got on it. I immediately began to pull ahead of the Lightning when I hit the rev limiter in 2nd!! I was like, mother f*cker, but was still a nose ahead of the Lightning as I hit third (that’s right, she went right in!!!) and was able to pull even farther ahead. We went for about half a mile or so as I was well into 4th and over 100!! I was pleasantly surprised to find I was maybe 1 ½ - 2 truck lengths ahead of him when it seemed like he let off. I went for a few more seconds to be sure he got the point!! I’ve heard all these stories of the Lighning guys killing SRT’s but know I know first hand that’s a bunch of BS. I’m not sure of his mods but my sig outlines mine. As a matter of fact, I just took off my B & G PCM yesterday to get the 91 octane tune programed in. I was getting some detonation with the 93 and didn’t want to always run Octane boost or 100 Octane fuel. The Octane boost makes my exhaust smell horrible (no cats) and the 100 Octane shit is damn expensive!! Having the stock PCM back on is partially responsible for me bouncing off the rev limiter. I got used to higher adjusted limiter!!

Just a little tid bit I wanted to share with you guys!!

Though, you do realize that if your truck was Black, the 1 1/2-2 truck lengths you won by would've been more like 10.:D

Their are SOME, but some of the stuff I've read talks about L's killing SRT's on a regular basis. I'm by all means am not stock but my mods pail in comparison to a simple under drive pulley on an L to significantly boost HP. With my stock PCM and exhaust upgrades I'll be willing to bet that I'm running maybe 25 more hp to the wheels then stock which isn't too significant when you think about the fact that I immidiately pulled away from the L and even bounced of the rev limiter. I could'nt tell much about the L, I couldn't even tell if it had an upgraded exhaust or not. My truck is so F'ing loud now with the catless mids and Magnaflow cat back, my truck was screaming bloody murder!!

I will say, however, that all of us "car (or truck) guys (or girls)" are pretty cool people. They guy pulled up to me after while on the highway as the passenger gave me the thumbs up and told me to go again on three. I said, "nah, you got nothing" as I gave him the thumbs up sign. I got off the very next exit as he continued on his way. They both seemed cool as hell.

That's because they don't post their losses. I will say that you better bring your A game if you step up to one. You never know what is under the hood.
 
I'm no fan of street racing but that was a great story. You should be a writer. :burnout:

Nice kill!! And I agree with Smoke. One never knows what they have done to them.
