Gotta ticket Sat

Got my first ticket sat. I was on my way back from the IL GTG and i was coming down an on ramp from route 14 to get onto route 31. I start gearing up to merge in and come flying down the ramp and my girlfriend says to slow down theres cops around here about a 1/2 a second later i see a cop truck in the woods, literally in the woods off the road! I couldnt believe it, and knew i was so screwed as soon as i passed him and saw him start to pull out. I get to the next intersection which was about a quarter of a mile past him and heres a second cop flying up and turning right behind me and the other guy in the woods flying up finally. Needless to say apparently i was going 76 in a 55 when his radar hit me. At least the second cop was nice and joking around with me unlike the one who caught me in the first place. And what was the best part about the whole situation was he asked me how fast i was going and i said um 60 um 65 um 70 i really dont know. He even said i was only going 75 instead of 76 to save me 20 bucks. And he actually said he was worried i was gonna get on it and take off and out run him and lose him lol. He actually had 2 other units on the way in front of me he had to call off right after i actually stopped lol. :rock:

The point of this story:
75 dollars ticket later i just bought me my first radar detector lol.

A $75 ticket
A $150 bill
Continuing to going fast after the incident

There are radar detectors and radar detectors...there are only two that seem to be really preferred: the Valentine and the Passport 8500 (there is also a 9500 for about $500 too)

Most detectors will not protect you from laser...once it is triggered they have your speed...my detector (the 8500 alerts to laser but will not warn you).

So even with the radar detector, the laser guns will get you nearly every time. There are laser transmitters for another $400 that transmit a code that makes it impossible to read your speed with a laser...but that will really piss off the user of the laser gun!

I still have a couple of the old original Escorts. The big black box. I wish there was a away to send them back and have them updated to receive "Ka". They've always done a great job on "x" and "k" frequencies. I think the laser detector is just to notify you your about to get a ticket.
But I do love my Valentine. I think the bogey counter and threat direction arrows are fantastic.
My wife and I were talking just last night about retirement areas. She mentioned the mountains of Virginia. I said nope. Radar detectors are illegal in Va. and I'm not giving them up.
Sorry for the ticket. At least it wsn't too bad and one of the cops was cool.

it was a ticket Saturday night!

I just started my vette after gas refill, did't have time to put 2nd gear a cop stopped us.+

"nice car, but I can't see your license plate (I had to fit big plate in US car), and license light is off."

"then red turning lights (here they want amber), no front plate... we are not in America"

after a few minutes I told them to make me a "forfait" ticket, ok they made: 110eur (about $150) but they gave me back my registration.

obviously he was looking for an easy ticket to put in his saturday nite list and was envious of my car, and maybe nice wife too haha: usually they stop us just to see the car.

100 octane refill: Eur 35
ticket: Eur 110
keep on cruzin my Vette with my hot wife: priceless

LMAO,my Passport has a Lazer Jammer,and the Cop walked up and even showed me how his gun read the JAMMER 3 signal !!!He had just gotten his new toy and was just playing with it to get used to it !!! Lucked out that time !!

yea thanks guys, i just got the plain jane cobra upgraded mod. Nothing to redic. due to all i want is some warning for a decent price couldnt see spendin all that loot on a special stuff out there, just kills me this is my first speeding ticket in 8 years im sooooo ticked off and either way i figured it was eventually gonna happen in this truck lol.

Radar Detectors Illegal in Some States

What are you using? Some of the good detectors are immune to VG-2 & VG-4 detector detectors. What are the ramifications of getting caught with a radar detector in those states (ticket, confiscation). I go to Virginia often and they are illegal there. I've never taken the V1 down off it's mount but I usually turn it off.
