Yep. And here in a VA, they use the GVWR to define maximum allowable bumper height dimensions for trucks, including those with altered suspensions (raised). Here's a little piece of information I found out about, sort of the hard way... When I owned my Chevy I was cited for a bumper height violation. Even though the truck was within the maximum allowable heights? Why was I cited even though I was within the height limits? In VA, they have different plates for passenger cars and trucks. My "truck" just happened to be registered and tagged with a "passenger car" tag, not a truck tag. Therefore, I was "illegal", height wise becasue my truck wasn't registered as a truck -- it was technically a "car" and the height allowances for my GVWR didn't apply. I had to get the truck registered as a truck, go to court and show the judge I registered it correctly, case dismissed. The moral of the story is GVWR's can be used for other things than weight allowances.
