H.I.D. Light Question Electrical HELP!!!

I know several members are running HID kits and have run into problems.. My brother is getting rid of his 06 Ram and I got his bi-xenon (hi/lo) HID lights out of it to swap into mine. Thinking this would be easy, it of course is NOT. First off the bulbs are different, H13 in 06 and 05 has 9007. He had the relay wired in his truck to work so I figured I should have no problems but as luck has it I go to turn on the lights and nothing but clicking sounds...:dontknow:
Is there a difference in wiring lights from an 06 hemi to an 05 SRT??
I also have another new harness for my lights, so I decided to plug that in and this time I got a click sound coming from the HID harness control.

Also a little side note last week I installed the MEtra Axxess kit for the Infinity sound system and since then every time I open my door I get a fast chime like the lights were left on. Also the factory alarm won't honk until about 15-20 sec. after the truck is off. And the final weird thing is that when I had the harness hooked up with the relay I went to unlock my truck and the bi-xenon bulb moved like it was on high beam with the unlock signal???

Do any of you have solutions to this or at least have maybe a pic of your set-up so I have somehting to go off of? I was told I may need resistors too on top of a relay?

And for all of those that are gonna say talk to Steve at Xenon Depot I already tried and he doesn't know either??
Any help or electrical masters out there I would greatly appreciate your help.

I had the same prob. i contacted the people i got my hid's from and they sold me this $20 relay that goes in line. BAM they worked! Contact the hid company who sells the ones you have and they can hook you up with it

2006 is a Canbus wiring system. 2005 is old school wire system. You need to be careful what you do or even how you test a canbus system. As a general rule do not use a test light but rather a DVM. As previously mentioned contact the supplier for directions.

That must be the problem then...Because the relay that worked in his truck does not work in mine..maybe I need a different style relay:dontknow:

Is this the one that plugs into the ballast then the ballast plug goes into it?

Hey Kickinass I just got a set for my fogs and heads and I'm putting them in tonight. I'll let you know how it goes. The guy I bought them from has them on his 05 Ram and they work perfect and look hella good, and they were $55.00 a set.

Kickinass I got em in this morning and at first they flashed twice then came on. Now the left head is just flashing so I'm probably gonna have to put the resistor things on. I'll have some pics of everything I got with the kit so we can compare. They look hella good when they are on and working right :rock:

I got mine up and running last night with mosquito's and gnats biting the shit out of me! ended up having to do away with the hi beams and ony use the ballast for each side and a resistor coming off each factory head light harness, and they worked.
Now I gotta connect the 2 white wires on the factory harness to get the "Lamp Out" off.

Hey check the ground's are very secure, the guy that helped me was saying the ground is 90% of the time the cause of failure!

Be prepared for 25% of the people on the road to high beam flash you now LOL. I use to flash them back but when a guy ran off the road when i did it once i just ignore the ppl now

It's actually just lowbeam and the 8000K aren't blinding bright. There's another bulb in there, but it's a regular bulb, so when I turn high beams on they just go to normal light. I parked it, ran across the parking lot to see how bright they were from a distance, not too bad. At first I forgot to connect the wire at the very top of the pic, I think this is the resistor. You connect the resistor to the ballast, then connect the other end of the wire with the bulb base to the resistor end. Then connect the bulb base to your stock bulb base. Put the HIDs in it's housing then connect the dots basically. Theirs wires coming off the ballast that match up with the wires coming off the HID, Red to Red, Blue to Black, and the yellow wire to the little red and black wire coming off the bulb base. It's an easy set up and was really cheap and just goes through all the stock stuff. Hardest part was finding a spot for the fog light ballasts. I ended up mounting them to the bottom plastic. The ballasts came with mounting brackets and they fit perfectly between 2 screws down there.

Pull up to a wall or your garage and lower them about an inch or two. That should take care of them flashing you.

How do you lower the lights? Do you just unscrew the headlight a little to let it sit lower?

theres a long metal screw on the side of the light....I believe that adjust them?

That adjuster is on the housing. It adjust the angle that the headlight unit itself points at. There's an up and down and left to right screw(in seperate areas on the light)..I prolly wont adjust mine b/c the highbeams in mine dont seem to shine far out and seem more/less just a bright light all over that doesnt lite far up the road for me....and yes i double checked they are wired correctly LOL. BUT, if you need to adjust them, they are ez to adjust...easier than changing the light bulbs!
