One of thee most original human beings (musicians) ever born is 93 today.

Les Paul has more inventions and milestone patents than you can imagine.

He is solely responsible for more innovations in the field of electronic recording and guitar building than anyone.... Les Paul is the man..... a living link to Django Reinhardt and a really wonderful human being.... In his time, he was a guitar playing wizard......

Happy Birthday, Les....... God bless you with many more years in good health.

After Django's going home in 1953, Django's widow (Naguine) was left without a dime. Django was NOT a businessman.... He was a gipsy through and through... He had made NO financial provisions for any heirs whatsoever...

Les Paul was solely instrumental is securing over $10,000 (a nice stash of bread at the time) for Naguine and Babik (his son) despite the fact that there were actually little or no binding legal documents to support a claim on behalf of Django's heirs....

Another sidenote: I was blown away when I first saw "Les Paul Chasing Sound" on DVD. It had so many surprises in it, even for an old Les Paul junkie like me. I was so impressed by the recordings of Les in his prime.... The guy could really burn and his phrasing was vastly more defined, articulate and intelligent than I'd ever heard before..... Quality and quantity....

He was and is an amazing fellow and we owe him great gratitude for setting so many textbook benchmarks ... Truly the standard bearer for so many things musical.

Thanks, Les..............

While both of those are beautiful........that Wine Red is gorgeous.

Very nice, D.

I have a Ebony LP Custom........and I don't believe any of Les' talent is in it.

Happy birthday to the old guy. :congrats:

No shit...

We should all grow old so gracefully......

The YouTube video of EVH giving Les sincere, unabashed (and ungay) kisses onstage was very touching, indeed...

Les Paul is a part of my spiritual family... Since I first heard him play at the earliest days of the 50's. He and Chet, Vin Scully and a few others are my spiritual uncles.... Chick Hearn, too.....much later.

It's a honor to pay tribute to a legend... Thank You....

Here's the Eddie Van Halen clip for everyone to see..... The great deference in Eddie's demeanor says it all............:
