The water company I am forced to use here in Florida is probably the worst in water quality. Crap you sure don't want to drink it. The sulfer smell stinks like sewage half the time. Washing the truck,, The hardness is so bad that there is no way I have found to get rid of water spots . It is so bad that it is like have pumice on the truck and sanding the f'ing paint off... I have tried house filters, water softener water, and the Mr. clean car wash gimzo....The Mr. clean gizmo helps the most but leaves a film all over the truck (with or without useing the soap).
Buffing, waxing or using detail spray after every wash is crap. I even use windex and then detail spray just to get the film off ,,Water spots tend to stay but are less visible. I'm ready to paint the truck water spot white to solve this crap.....HELP!!!!!

What other ways are there to help with this problem?
What knd of filter is in the Mr. Clean Gizmo?

thata what I need to, water is bad out here in PHX

I finally bought a industrial water softener (2.5 cf resin tank) with an RO unit after that. No more water spots....ZERO! I only use the Reverse Osmosis for drinking and rinsing the cars. The cost of the systems was under $1000 (self installed). The softner uses about 400 lbs of salt per year and the RO unit uses 3 gallons of water to make one.

Water softener works here in Phoenix. Hard to find water harder then we have here...

The water system that Tim sells is excellent, works better than most.

Thanks, bro....it is a great unit....

Salt and potassium systems are very efficient at removing all the magnesium and calcium from the water. In their source water state, they bond together, crystalize and form that crusty white limescale. But this technology has so many drawbacks.... including the fact that they dump all that salt/ potassium back into the environment... For this reason, they are banned in many areas of the country.

The Superior Waterboy uses a patented technology that's been around for over 40 yrs. Until 10-15 yrs ago was used only in an industrial application. Ford Motor Co., Marriott, Coca Cola and an large number of other Fortune 500 companies have used HUGE Superior magnetic modules to prevent limesacle and corrosion in their boilers and cooling towers.... It is a proven technology with over 300,000  successful industrial applications worldwide.

The difference between the old style salt and potassium systems (read ion exchange) is that for residential applications we don't need (with rare high hardness over 19 grains) to remove the minerals, we simply prevent them from bonding together. The magnetic modules line the water molecules up in a "like-like" manner...(all the pluses and minues on the same side) In this state, the surface tension of the water is decreased, making it not only more permeable, but more soluable as well....

The salt and potassium systems make it necessary to add reverse osmosis so's yer not drinking salt water or sending 3 gallons down the drain to produce each gallon of drinking water... Not only that, but most (but not all) R/O systems keep sending water down the drain when the product water tank is full... making them even more of a water waster....

The Waterboy also triple filters the water for a great taste... The result of all these technologies is completely conditioned and great tasting water from every tap in your house.... Including (if you like) the hosebib that you use to wash your vehicles.

With my black vehicles, the detail guy REALLY noticed a big difference.... No more crusty water spots.....

Sheesh, Tim. If I didn't know better, I'd say you were selling holy water.:D

To remove hard water spots from your truck, wash it, take bottled water in a sprayer (new) and purchase a clay bar, they are white and about the size of a wallet, you can find them at finer auto supply stores. the directions for use come with the bar. the clean bottled water is to be sprayed often to bar and a little on surface, after all impurities have been removed, wax your truck, this should help, but make sure to contact Django. ( 3 1/2%)OK tim?.................... :D

Tim,

Do you guys do water testing also?

sorry for the hijack...back to your regularly scheduled program...

I swear by the Mr. Clean system, because I can't afford Tim's gizmo! ;)

I have never experienced it leaving a film on the truck... not sure where that would be coming from. I find that if I use it, as directed, I have no problems. I can always tell when it's time for a new filter because I will start to see some water spots...

We do. But I think that you can get it done more inexpensively with a local testing agency.

We charge about $140.... or so.

Thanks Tim, I use a water softener that is working perfectly...I understand the waterboy system is a better system! I almost went with a similar system to start with. I just can't see replacing a new softener at this time......I did find out that the softener is not connected to the outside water systems...Sprinklers and faucets.
Is there a cheapo system that can be made or hooked up to a outside faucet besides the Mr. clean gizmo.....The water company I have is almost in my back yard....I think I get the first use of the water coming out of their pipes....

There are some cheap filter systems that are available at Home Depot that should hook up fairly easily to the outside water pipes.

Something similar to this might work just to wash the truck...

:dontknow:

Thanks Scott ---something like that may just be the ticket....I only got 3 washes from the mr clean gizmo filters....how many do you get?
