My wife and I are are planning a little weekend getaway and are considering Pigeon Forge and going to Dollywood. If anyone has already been and knows a thing or two about that area or things to do please let me know. TIA

ain't that where they have that big hot rod GTG?????

I live about 2 hours from their and have been their several times. They have rides, live shows, exhibits, a water park, gift shops, and alot more. If you go about 1 mile into pigeon forge there are go-carts, shopping, motion rides, marble slab ice cream, scooter rentals, indoor sky diving, bungie jumping, sling shot in a seat ride, and a whole lots more.
You should be able to find plenty to do.

got a friend that sings over there, his name is T.C. Barnette pretty good country singer

Never been to Dollywood...but I love the owner!

And, I did go to the area in a Porsche I owned and loved the roads up and down the mountains...what a hoot, all those switch-backs, declining radius turns, long sweeping speed squeezes!

Allow some time for enjoying the winding roads for sure!

And tell Dolly that I love her!

That's what I really wanted to say...just couldn't put the words together!

ive always had a thing for her too. guess its because she's southern.

I think I'll drive trough Smoky Mountains next August! :)

I already wanted to go there.

I love that Southern "s" in her accent!

Thanks for the info. Sounds like that's the plan then. It's just going to be a little 3 day getaway. Drive up Fri. Visit Dollywood Sat. and come back Sun.. Maybe I will try and sneak another day in there if my wife's schedule allows.

As far as the pics with Dolly. I guess I'll need to create a distraction for my wife so she's not looking and I'll need to do it late in the day since I will no longer be welcome there once the deed is done but I'll see what I can do.:D

We are not so much roller coaster riders. My wife's a big chicken and I rarely fit but we do enjoy the shows. So we're looking forward to see what Dolly has to offer. I'm sure most of it is in the country theme and that's just fine with us.

Haven't laid out the travel plan yet but I think it will be up through Cherokee into Gatlinburg and then Pigeon Forge. I'll take the camera and post a ride report. Going the second weekend in July.

I live 1.25 hrs from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Dollywood is an all day fun place for kids and adults. Many other attractions within a couple miles.

About 10 miles from Pigeon Forge in Sevierville (Dolly's hometown) is the Muscle car musuem. Usually over 100 cars on exhibit inside a building. Just about every muscle car built will be represented.

Warning:...Very heavy traffic...not unusual to take over an hour to go 1 mile. Traffic is especially bad on a weekend so allow plenty of time. Dollywood will also be packed to the gills.

Is this seasonal? What time of year were you there? Any chance it will be lighter in July or am I looking at peak time? Uhg!

And I will try to check out the car museum.

Most of the year is like that especially on weekends....right after new years is probably slowest........July will probably be packed....

It figures. Sounds about like Disney. We went there in January and just about had the place to ourselves. Never go to Disney during Thanksgiving or Christmas. That place resembles a sardine can at those times. They sometimes have to turn people away. Park reaches capacity. Thanks for the info.
