Header bolt torque specs

05 service manual says:
"23 N-m or 200 in. lbs."

Heat shield bolts:
6 N-m or 50 in. lbs.

Anti-seize= good idea, esp. on an aluminum block.

I torqued mine to 25 ft pounds. Re-torqued after 500 miles and they have not worked loose. Checked them again later and they were still at 25. ;)

That's a bit tight.
200 in.lbs. = approx. 17 ft.lbs.
I doubt you're doing any damage, but you're closer to stripping threads.

Yup! Also used some anti-sieze if they ever need to come out, and Stage 8 locking hardware so they don't move until I say so!

:dito: I also used di-electric on the spark plug boot's.

ya'll book readin fellas crack me up!LOLOLOLOL:D

Its dang header bolts for jez sake!!

tighten the hell outta them till it feels good! dont go goddamighty tight and stripe the threads but tight!

Anyone thats done any wrenching at all will tell ya trq specs are guidlines.

and if ya really want to get techy, the specs ya'll are reading are for STOCK manifolds, cast steal, thicker than the freakin flange on a HEADER!

DUHHHHH!!!!!UMASS'S:D

Quit readin the dang books so freakin much!! Ya'll probably still do it missionary style dont yuns!!LOLOLOL:p :p :p

well last night he devulged info!! he scratched one of the headers putting it on:( ................anyone like to guess what his next words were?:D :D :D

F'n tight is the right answer...............;)

Also retorque to F'n tight after 25-50 miles.

In another 100 miles retorque to F'n tight.

Then at 500 miles retorque to F'n tight and..........have a nice day.

Anti sieze should be used as previously brought up.

Use the factory metal sandwich gaskets.

First words prolly started with an F and ended with a CK.

Next he prolly wants to order a new header.

Ummm....even a full-blown redneck should know the difference between steel and cast iron. :D
And, the thickness difference in flanges wouldn't make a difference regarding torque specs. Bolt length maybe, but not torque.

It's all fun and games until you strip one out. :shot:

The last time I did missionary...hmmm....high school? College? I honestly can't even remember. :)
