header install tips ?

i've got my b&b exhaust coming & want to confirm a few things for the header install:

use stock exhaust manifold gaskets from dealer, order before -- not stocked currentlly.......

remove front wheel inner liners for easier access to bolts & install from the underside of truck...... disconnect battery.....

thicknesses being different from stock manifold flange to header flange, what size bolts did you use (thread, grade & length) ??

header bolts torqued to 17 foot/pounds ??

any other tips appreciated, thanks.

It'd be nice to have a helper.

And be careful when you pull the wheel well liners. There are electrical connections on each attached with a plastic push-rivet. Pull those out before pulling the liner out.

I sent mine out to Jet-Hot, I suggest you do the same or wrap them. Alot of heat dissipation from those headers. I was quoted $325.00 with a 7 day turnaround, not including shipping.

The headers come with the bolts you need.

I like the gasgets they supplied Im going to try them out.

i've heard that some are flaking off some of the jet coating, have you had that issue ?
when you say that bolts come with, are you talking about the header bolts or the collector bolts or both ??

The B&B system comes with everything to bolt em up.
Waiting to get mine back from Jet-Hot.

No way as far as the coating, but ill ask Kevan he had his done.

my headers came with all the bolts, however some of them ended up rattling out and are now lost so I need more :-(

Dominick- Order a set of header gaskets from Dragon. You'll be putting them in sooner rather than later.

The Jet-Hot coating on my truck is holding strong. No complaints. Don't get me wrong; it's not other-side-of-the-pillow cool in the engine compartment, but the temp has dropped CONSIDERABLY since the Jet-Hot.

I have noticed that the coating has dulled a slight bit. The 'chrome' shine has isn't quite as bright; it's more of a regular silver now. Considering the amount of heat involved, I think that can be expected.
There's a great warranty on the Jet-Hot stuff, so...if anything flakes or fails, back they go.

I think the flaking issues you're seeing are coming from either painted or ceramic coated headers. Not from Jet-Hot stuff.

spray the 6 collctor bolts on the stock system with rust eater when you first start to give it time to work will make removeing those bolts much easier
