If you havent already get the flash and 172 T stat. Truck will run 30 degrees cooler. Boomer also sells a fan you can install..........check out Wazzups truck, he has one installed.

I wish some of you Pro Gear heads would post up on the issue of running 170-180 as apposed to 195-205.

I have been reading different stories and am a bit confused on this.

What is the optimum operating temperature for this motor???

DITTO !!

I have very good arguments from both sides.I have always used lower than stock t-stats in all my vehicles and had no problems.

But,it does make sense to get the oil hot enough to get the moisture out, also.

from what I understand , at 200 degree the engine looses power, at 180 it stays at the max horsepower temp. thats why I neverunderstood the whole heat soak think with my old truck. After the flash and t-stat it always stayed at 180 no matter how many runs I made back to back, the only time the temp went higher than that was when I would stay at a high rpm for to long "like down shifting and waiting for a car to catch up" " just for me to smoke him"
