Seeing as how the viper block is aluminum, I thought this might be a handy product to mention. I was changing tranny fluid and ended up stripping out the threads in a couple holes for the trans pan bolts. The housing was aluminum and I was feeling like an over achiever so I over torqued the bolts. Picked up some helicoil and 2 minutes later, everything was better than new. The helicoil-ed bolts felt way more secure than all the rest in the pan. Just thought I pass on the info.

Good info ...Have any pics of the repair?

they are a life saver for sure:rock::rock:

i always put a drop Loctite on the insert, as a sealant & make it more permanent repair

i think it would be neat to do a complete engine, tranny, etc. with HeliCoils/thread inserts.
